I'm really not doing anything special, in fact, though I still have to supplement shakes for nutritional issues (unique to me - nothing to do with the DS), everything has stayed pretty basic - protein first *always*, moderate complex carbs and fats, and actually even a few simple carbs and simple sugars from time to time, but I have protein snacks more than I do those items. I make sure I get my vites in, especially the fat solubles A, D, E, K1 and K 2. I just ran across a K3 during my DS literary travels, but I'll have to read more about it.
It helps that I'm able to tie in what I learn in the classroom with regard to food chemistry, anatomy and physiology, though I'm not actively in classes now, after spending most of the year being cut on and healing from skin reduction surgery.
I pretty much adopt the KISS philosophy when it comes to my DS, although my vitamin regimen might seem complicated, with 12 to 15 different capsules daily, and a shot once a month. I make sure than I'm on track nutritionally by copying and keeping track of my own labs -very important to do - I don't depend on the doctor to do it, but she would. She's a jewel, and she allowed me to teach her about the DS., which is a *huge* part of being successful with it. Everybody's got to be on the same page.
