I don't know about the chicken.

But I'm scared for you that you are cheating.  I agree that the diet sucked and the liquid diet sucked even more so.  I must have told myself a million times "I can do anything for three weeks!"

I know there is some question about the diet, I did not dig into the research because I figured it might help, and I doubt it will hurt.  But it could save your life.  You certainly don't need to answer me, but you on the first stage of many where cheating could kill you.  If after the surgery you decide to cheat and not take you vitamins, you could die.

Why is a little chicken in your mouth better than playing it safe?  Stupid nutritionist, if she had kept her stupid mouth shut you might not have thought about it.  Post surgery we have to play by the rules no matter what.

This sounds judgmental and I don't mean it that way.  I wish I had better social skills and could phrase my worries in a happier way.  I just don't want to see anybody go into this without being ready.  Better you back out now and schedule it again when you don't need to cheat than have your bones crumble to dust.

Good luck!!!

Here's the thing...this whols pre-op diet business is a matter of doc preference.  Some like the intestines to be squeaky clean when they are cutting into them.  It creates less mess to deal with.  My doc required none - but just requested that I don't eat anything super chunky the day before, like ribs, because it tends to be gross, which made me laugh.

Other reasons for the pre-op diet is an attempt to shrink the liver so the laparoscopic tools can maneuver more easily around it.  Worst-case-scenario around that is if they cannot maneuver, then they open you up, which isn't a big deal either - just a larger scar.

My attitude about this has gotten more accepting as time goes on and I see what other people do.
Just do the best you can but I would make a special effort the last couple of days.

Good luck,

Pete

Ok so let me tell you, i have been doing this for 7 days I have 14 more to go. I have hit a point where the shakes are making me nauseas  . they started out so good and I enjoyed drinking them but now just the thought makes my tummy turn. So I have been living on water, SF jello and SF popsicles and lots of WATER. (and I shamefully admit I had a handful of popcorn at the movies; Gone Girl is really good) My friend who is going to a different surgeon is only having to replace two meals a day with the shakes so i feel a little jealous and then gets to eat a full meal but i know better than to compare our treatment plans. Did anyone else just get to the point you could NOT drink these shakes? The chocolate is more managable than the vanilla but I am almost to the point i would rather not.
