i Will have mom call maybe she can get farther with the company then i can. My Bf cannot go to doctors and deal with that because legal reasons with the lawsuit. he's wanted to many times for me. my mom has spoken before. she goes to the doctors with me and since i been getting my results back slowly, she been worried too. she supports either decision i make about reversing the surgery or not.

I go to the doctor on monday to get the rest of my lab results and another b12 shot. but the nurse already said the results came back but i needed an appointment because numbers were off. I will get all my numbers then.

Sorry about your issues Yex, can you get vitamins on script?  Here's a thread about that very subject http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/DS/4439535/Getting-a-quots criptquot-for-your-vites-to-pay-from/#36710329 and I've pasted a good reply lower down, however please check out the whole post.

These pill boxes with a clock will help you remember to take your vits, so have look here MedCenter or you can get them on ebay here from around $30 - be sure to get one with a clock though!!

If you get a pill organizer with alarm and vitamins on prescription them I'm sure you can avoid the revision, but I do understand your concern.  Please let us know if you get anywhere with vitamins on script.

"I have a letter from my doctor stating I have a condition that requires supplementation for life.  It spells out everything and includes my protein shakes (see below).  I sent the letter in to be on file but I also send it in with each submission just to save the hassle.  I haven't had any issues with reimbursement.  Look over the list of items they allow you to write off and you may be surprised to find ones you never knew about.  Include tax and shipping if you pay it.  Lastly, mileage for doctors visits.

Cheers,
Cathy" [quote continues below, but it won't let me put quotation marks on it!!]

The link that you posted to get insurance to pay for vitamins is not health insurance, it is flex monies/ our real monies, just tax free monies we have taken out of our salaries for medical expenses  and child care.  The prescriptions or letters are to get our FSA (flexible spending Account) to reimburse us for any costs related to our medical condition or upkeep (MY doc writes a note and I get covered for WW, any supplements (vitamins, minerals, protein drinks etc) or WL programs, gyms, acupuncture, massage whatever will help me to lose and maintain my health and weight).  We only get FSA when we work and contribute toward our elected amount.  That money is taken directly from our paychecks and are tax free dollars - still they are our dollars and not part of health Insurance or subsidy.  I am thinking OP is totally disabled and has no FSA dollars.

This is a very sad situation.  I wish I could fix this because my heart breaks and I can't stop thinking about it.  What happens if we all donate vitamins?  This person needs assisted living.

I am at work thinking that I should call some vitamin companies but if there are what seems like severe memory recall issues - there would be too many vitamins and times to remember to take - I wonder if some of the mind stuff is B-12 difficiency.  A reversal too must be prepped for and is dangerous and still she speaks of a re-sleeve to make her stomach smaller which more danger and upkeep.  A smaller sleeve can make issues - acid reflux which requires remembering to take a PPI and if you take a PPI, you have to remember to supplement.  What can we do?  Where is mom, family,  & boyfriend.  Can they assist?

Sad.  I pray this all gets worked out.

BTW you should look into vitamin B12 and vitamin D injections as well as iron infusions, so you have a few things less to remember to take.

Also have you asked your PCP about a panniculectomy?  This will surgically remove the excess skin and therefore stop the sweat that causes your rashes.  Your PCP should be able to prescribe you something in the interim as they can give you creams with steroids.  Plus them seeing the problem will strengthen your case for having a medical need for the surgery.

Thinking of you and wishing you well.  You need to get some state and city social work services.  If you were in NYC there are some places I could think of, people I could ask.  There are lots of resources for people with traumatic brain injury.  In the meanwhile, can your mom who must be fairly young if you are like 23 help you with vitamins and helping you remember to take them.   There are ALWAYS buy one get one sales and coupons you can cut for vitamins.  You need real professionals and medical professionals to assist you or have no doubt you will steadily decline.  Without surgery and with just a restrictive surgery I always have issues with iron, D, and now B-12 - and it takes effort, lots of effort to get the numbers up and then maintain.

I wish you the best

I have left this website im not sure how long ago. i had the surgery august 2009 since then, i lost insurance, got it back again only to lose it 3 months later. I was in a car accident and got a TBI (traumatic brain injury) and other problems. I cant remember if and when i was taking vitamins, i can't afford the vitamins, i get multi when i can. now all my vitamin levels are messed up.
my protein was in normal range. but my d, k, calcium, iron, and b-12 was all wrong.
I try notebooks, pill trackers, lists, wall charts, and nothing works.

i lost over 210 pounds and kept it off.
I am still still overweight but i am comfortable where im at. when i look in the mirror my shoulders look boney but all the loose skin and that fell down. i only lost 1 pants size because the skin. it hurts so bad i can't even stand upright half the time and get rashes to the point of bleeding. i do what i can to stop it. I had an incisional and umbilical hernia repair but the umbilical one came back and the dr said its from the pulling.

I want to get the intestine part reversed so i don't malabsorb anymore. i want to get my stomach shrunk again. i dont know if thats possible or where to start. or if state insurance would cover it.

If i wasn't in the car accident i would be in a total different situation then i am in now. i cannot go back to work or school so my options are limited and i can't afford to take care of myself ds wise. if i knew i would be in this spot i would never have gotten this surgery. i need help somewhere.

I am so sorry for what you are going through, I have a daughter in college about your age. So I am not sure what you can and cant remember about taking your pills and why is it only your pills?  is there someone to remind you to take them?  can you get on disability?  I would try a nursing home.

so first it sounds like the intestinal bypass should be reversed because of 2 medically necessary reasons, 1.  you have a documented condition that inhibits your ability to "remember" to take your required vit/min and 2.  you have documented malnutrition and/or vit/min deficiencies due to the brain injury impeding your memory taking your vit/min, any insurance should reverse this due to that.

For panni removal that is very simple to get insurance coverage with well documented medical necessity reasons.  First you stated you have intertrigo, (skin infections, bacterial, fungal-you have to get these documented by a dermatologist and take RX for them to show you have tried other less aggressive therapies besided surgery)  2nd the sheer weight of your panni puts an incredible amount of stress on the lower back, and you also stated bleeding.  You need your hernia repaired also.  If your panni is below your knees other infections, etc are not necessary to show medical necessity, but you have to document all of this.

If your brain injury is at maximum recovery, yes look into a intestinal bypass reversal, but that is NO guarantee that part of the sm bowel will function again, then you would have to take creon anyway.  make your you pick the surgeon wisely as taking down the DS is not an easy thing.    And it sounds like you want be resleeved also.

I wish you all the best and hope you get someone to help you,  call you to take your pills 4xs a day if they have to

im trying to get to everyones response so i will try to answer it all here.

I do not bad enough for assisted living but do not stay home alone.

It is not just forgetting to take my pills. i only posted relating to the topic i was talking about not my whole history.

My family and bf is around. they all help me how they can money is an issue with everyone with this economy.

My bf was the one driving the car when we were hit so we both have issues from that.

I have been fighting for disability for almost 3 years now. finally on the last step which is waiting for a court date. which means it will be over in 6-8 months. But i dont know if i can wait that long or not.

i mentioned about the sleeve part thinking that if i get the intestines fixed making the stomach a little bit smaller would stop the weight gain after the intestines are "normal" again

And thank you to who offered to send vitamins. but i didnt post for that. i wanted to know if there was programs for vitamins like they do for meds.

I tried very hard to lose the weight and keep up with everything but i got lost along the way. started when the surgeons office said i couldnt come back till i could pay a fee up front. then my primary was doing vitamins with me. then the accident happened and i lost my school insurance then the primary too.
