Anyone have the SADI aka Loop DS?

I am looking for firsthand experience.  Don't want to talk about insurance fraud or speculate about its effect given it's current experimental nature.  This is very important. I am scheduled to have this procedure on Oct 10th and I need to find out everything I can.  my doctor is Dr. Enochs in Raleigh, NC.

I understand that there are a few SADI lurkers out here that don't like to call attention to themselves.  Hopefully they will at least send you a private message.

Good luck and keep us informed, if you don't mind.  The DS stayed on the experimental list for a couple of decades as far as insurance companies were concerned, so it may take a while to gain respect.

I will definitely keep people informed.  I think the lack of info scares people, so any info I can share good or bad might help the next person considering this procedure.

It does seem to be a loaded topic for no real reason that I can see. I hope some of the others
that have had it get in touch.

Tell me about it. So far my responses from FB groups is that my surgeon is committing fraud (he's not) and that it's too experimental to consider. And that I'm being cheated out of a full DS (my surgeon doesn't do DS, and I never wanted DS, RNY was the surgery I was initially going for). We can't progress past experimental until more surgeries are done and patients are followed to track their progress.

I'm thinking it is past experimental. I know there were some people in the past who thought they were getting a DS and got the SADI
instead. There was a hue and cry about the Doctor's but it could easily have been the patients not understanding the differences. Sometimes
people hear what they want to hear. You certainly know what you are doing - the rest is just noise.

Anyway - good luck with it. Every WLS I've seen written about has it's pluses and minuses but you just make the the best decision for you
and then work with it. There really is no right or wrong the way people suggest, just what works for you.

I think some people who want the regular DS have a problem with doctors who sell the SADI as "just the same as a DS". My surgeon fully explained the difference, and I decided that I'd rather have the SADI because of the longer common channel (which hopefully equates to less diarrhea and malabsorptive issues).

Hi. I had the loop DS on 12/3/13 with Dr. Roslin and I'm glad I listened to the recommendation of the surgeon because my HW was 268 and I am 120lbs, now. I had to go to see the surgeon about six weeks in order to seek recommendations on how to stop loosing weight.. Which I have. It has worked well for me...

Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing!   It is so very important to me that I know about people who have undergone this surgery. I am so glad you are a success.  Have you had any unusual or unexpected side effects? How quickly did you recover from the surgery?
