If your insurance is covered by an employer, then check the policy to see if WLS is covered. 

If you have CIGNA, I believe that the insurer requires a minimum BMI of 50 for DS even though DS is generally performed on those with BMIs of 35 with at least one co-morbidity or 40 without any co-morbidities.

I'm covered under Empire Blue Cross PPO, it's my mothers health insurance. I did call to make sure it was covered, and it is. But I do not have any co-morbidities, which will probably make it a lot harder to get approved. I have been taking Metformin for weight loss uses- hopefully they see that since they cover my meds too, and that I have been really trying to loose the weight on my own before making such a decision.
