I am dating someone for the first time in four years. I cannot believe this. He is so awesome. I feel so feminine and thin around him. I am worried about the skin issue but he is an older man "49". I am hopeful that the skin will not bother him and that he cares more about personality than body image. He seems to be like that and practical. We have so much stuff in common. It was a blind date and it lasted seven hours because neither of us wanted to go home. We talked for four hours non-stop at Starbucks to polish off the night. I never thought I would date again. I really like him. He told me today that he really likes me and feels so comfortable around me. Anyway. Wish me luck. I just wanted to update my DS brothers and sisters on what is new in my life.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!  ENJOY EVERY SECOND OF IT!

I started dating my first boyfriend EVER 4 years after surgery and we have been together for over a year.  I was also terrified about the excess skin especially by 3 day old birthday balloon looking breasts.  He is a professional bodybuilder so that made me even MORE conscious  but he never had an issue.  He knew that I was confident in my body and love myself just as I am and he could either take it or leave it!

I think everything will be just fine!! Enjoy your new beau!  Have fun!

That is the coolest most up-lifting post I've seen in a while! So happy for you, congratulations! Us "older guys" have a lot to offer and don't want to be alone either, so....win/win 4 u both!

Enjoy your new body and your new romance - I'm also going through that as well.  I'm 51 and getting approached by 20 and 30 year olds.  I feel I have a pretty cute face, but I also worry about the excess skin.  But remember this - if he's worth it, your skin won't matter because he'll see right past that and will see you for the TRUE beauty that you really are.

All the best to you and keep us posted!

Congrats on Mr. Wonderful.  It's nice to hear you taking that step.

And your new picture is very pretty.  You have come a long way!
