Update on my crazy life

I've been MIA for quite a while. On May 28th I became very ill and on Jume 1st I was diagnosed with a spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid leak. I wouldn't wish this illness on anyone. I ended up having to go to California and see a specialist at Cedars Sinai. My leak was in my sacrum and on July 30th I had spinal surgery to seal the leak. I have spent the past 13 weeks lying down. I'm beginning to see the light but its a long recovery process. The bad news is due to how sick I've been I now weigh a whopping 114 pounds. No muscle. I look like i'm anorexic. I went from feeling better than I have in years to being deathly ill. I can't gain weight no matter how hard I try. I did get to 118 but it dropped back down again. I need suggestions on how to fatten up. I worry because I don't have any reserve if I were in need of surgery again. (If my leak doesn't seal up all the way) I hope everyone is well. On a funny note the hospital staff would call me itty bitty and tiny and have to use a child blood pressure cuff, but I would still give anything to gain some weight back.

Wow, that's some scary stuff.  Talk to your doc about Creon to increase your absorption.

I sure hope everything turns out fine and you won't need another surgery. I agree with Val, ask about Creon or a digestive enzyme. Keep us posted.

That's scary. I hope it does heal up for you. What are your current meals like? Any restrictions on what you eat?

I second the Creon or some equivalent product and increasing whatever carbs you can.

Feel better soon Ms. itty bitty.

Sorry I haven't responded. I never was notified in my email. Does anyone know what dosage of creon or do I need to go see my surgeon or my primary doc.?
