made it to 6 weeks

Well somehow I managed to make it through the first 6 weeks. Been a tough 44 days. Managed to lose 32lbs.
But alas not sure what to do now. Everyone I have typed to on Internet says you need high protein high fat and lo carbs. Met with the nutritionist and she had a mental fit cause I ate 2 slices of bacon fir a snack. My current eating plan is approximately 55% protein 35% fat and 10% carbs.
What to do.. low fat or not. All I want is to do this right and lose the 100 lbs I need

Hi,
Most nutritionist treat the DS like the gastic bypass and you get that same information I was lucky in my surgeons office had a nutritionist that knew what she was talking about one of the first things she told me was I'm so jealous of you I don't want you to use low fat anything anymore, use regular salad dressings, mayo etc. Just keep asking questions here there are many that have been here for a long time helping and they do know what they are talking about. Keep up the great work!

With the exception of a precious (way too) few, Nutritionists (even those who work for DS surgeons) don't jack **** about the DS and what we require. I got SO constipated following nutritionists advice the first two weeks. It wasn't until I listened to the veterans before me that I got results.

There is plenty of discussion about high fat levels but I think pretty much everyone in the community
thinks the low fat food purchases are behind them.
Definitely high protein / low carb / enough fat to function well. My take is if you are constipated and not eating low fat
you might think about adding more fat to your diet.
If your interested in educating your nutritionist you might try to get her to talk about what the right amount of
fat is keeping in mind approximately 80% fat malabsorption. I think that makes those of us who eat a regular
fat diet come out on the low end compared to other people.

Yes i sent her a link to dsfacts.com and a link to the specific page that talks about the malobsorption. Shame we have to educate professionals in their own field..
Nothing seems to effect my poop other than more fat I seem to go more often and it seems like since I lowered my carbs they stink less
