Hello All,

Below are my lab results, could a vet tell me...is it really bad? Will I be placed on infusions?

It’s been a bit. I barely post much on here anymore. But need advice. I fell horrible mentally and physically anymore. Feels like I am fighting to stay awake all day long. I have a feeling they will be placing me on Iron Infusions. My Iron levels are low, my D and Calcium is also low. What's weird to me is my B12 is like super high, like double the high end of normal?? Is that bad? I have an appointment with my surgeon on Wed. the 20th to discuss my results. I'm scared, worried and mad all at the same time. This is my fault, I have been so stressed and depressed. My BF quit his job 3 months ago and still hasn't found anything (long story) my job has me working 6 days a week and long hours (due to a system upgrade) and my Mom is battling stage 4 cancer for the second take in 5 years. This time it keeps growing and spreading and they are running out of options. I want to cry. I have been carbing it up, and forgetting my vites. I feel like I’m falling apart.

On the upside, I now know something is wrong and have to fix it, I just don’t know how bad it really is?...

Hello-

Question is what type of Vitamin D you take, how many mg you take, how often you take your vitamin D's, and what dosage do you take in calicum and how often.  Never take them with your iron pills.

And FYI the range is actually 32-100 some even go to 35-100.

My daily dosage is:

(1) per day of Vitalady Tender Dry Vitamin D3-50 50,000IU 100 caps/btl

(2) 3 times a day 600 mg of calcium = 1800 per day

My Vitamin D level is 50

My Calicum    level is 9.8

Iron Advice:

(5) 1 times a day of Vitalady Tender Iron (60mg) with Vitamin C (400mg) Capsules, 400/btl

My numbers are slowly coming up, however that is the recommended dosage from Vitamin lady.  I have seen significant improvement.  At this point you may need an iron fusion, but if the iron does not improve you may need to start taking Colorado Biolabs Proferrin ES (HEME Iron Polypeptide) - 90 tab/btl...HOwever, warning, warning, cause severe constipation.

The B-12, stop taking B-12, my number was high as well but I was injecting shots or taking a supplement.

Yes, how much calcium are you taking?  I do 8 doses of 500mg calcium with 250mg magnesium citrate and 4 x 150mcg K2.  I also take strontium.  Your PTH is OK so depending what you're doing at the mo, I'm guessing you can probably get it up.  How much D are you taking - is it Biotech dry 50,000iu tablets.

I'd keep going with the B12 as above 1,500 is a nice number and will help you feel better.  They stop measuring at 2,000 and worst case you'll pee out any excess - but you've not yet reached the stage where you're wasting money.  Celebs get B12 injections as a pick-me-up.

What iron are you taking - is it at least an hour away from dairy?

B12 is fine. Did you get Hemoglobin and Hematocrit numbers? I don't know if you are at infusion levels but you might push for it.
it would give you a boost anyway. When I fell slightly anemic I added more iron and also added 2 proferrin a day which is a heme iron
from meat that absorbs better than the usual non-heme iron because there aren't any dietary restrictions for when you take it.

Not a vet by any means but here is my 2 cents.

PTH is still normal and calcium is just under normal so maybe you just need add another dose. I'm really not sure what level of PTH can
mean that you are leaching calcium from your bones. Be sure to quiz your surgeon about that.

When your PTH is above range then it means you're leaching calcium from your bones, so we want this number as low as poss.  In range is good.
