A plateau is normal...  dont worry about it keep doing what you are doing and the weight will be coming off again.  I posted the same message 10 months ago and have now lost 125lbs . Keep the faith and keep up the good work

I just had my one year check up, after DS.  I have been at a plateau for a month, and my nutritionist said that I need to increase my protein to 155 grams per day, because we dsers only absorb 60%.  5 weeks out is early, but you might try increasing protein when you feel like it.

Thanks for reconfirming I need to increase my protein.  I'm hoping to drop some weight because I have gained since last year, and I am 4 years out.  Not too crazy about protein shakes because I am sererely lactose intolerant, and it causes my stomach to make loud noises at work in the morning.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but DSers malabsorb fat, right? Is it really necessary for the cheese to be fat free? I thought having SOME fat in the diet was necessary. Or maybe just not as early out as the OP is?

That was something I was thinking of as I examined my eating. I am only getting about 6 grams of fat. The plan from my nutritionist is the same for ds as bypass. But i just figured It was cause of the early stages were the ssme. Each day that goes by I get more frustrated.  I sent my nutritionist my eating but she still has not written me back..

It is no longer necessary to eat low fat. The first 4 - 6 weeks can be kind of an exception since you just can't tell how your
new stomach is going to adjust - full fat cheese should be fine though.

It seems a little early to be drinking pop at this point.  Maybe swap that snack out for another protein shake or another egg.  Instead of the chicken soup how about some shredded chicken or some tuna fish since it is also soft?

I'm 4 years out and still cannot tolerate the pop.  I avoid it like the plague.  That was one of the very first things I made the lifestyle change to give up.

Increase the protein, make sure you are getting up and moving as MUCH as possible.  Walking will be your best friend!

You will get there.  Changing your lifstyle will take a LONG time.  GOOD LUCK!

Not pop as in soda a pop as in a popsicle

Do you think there would be some reason why a ds would not help someone lose weight.. maybe something because of a conversation from a bypass?  I just can't believe it is normal to not lose any weight for weeks 3, 4 and 5. .  I am following the program.  I cannot get any help from my dr or nutritionist.  They just say stick to the program. In the meantime time goes by and I lose no weight
