What's the expected weight loss?

Since this is my second go at surgery I haven't been as excite,s and living on the forums as the first surgery so, although I'm going to accept whatever weight that comes off (because at this point anything coming off is better than nothing,) I'd still like to know what's to expect. I think asking my surgeon other questions I completely forgot to ask him this. So...

What is the average weight loss to expect from 1 month, 3rd month, 6th month, and a year? I know everyone is different and age, sex, weight, etc. are factors in it but I would still like an approximate number, from both virgin DS'ers, and revision DS'ers. For the revisions please let me know if your sleeve was tightened, resleeved or left alone. I checked DS data rat, but some of the users have not filled in important information so it's not helping me fully.

When I had the sleeve I lost 19 lbs in the first month and after that an average of about 8 lbs after that until I just stopped losing (I lost almost fifty pounds until I stopped losing.)

For reference I'm 5'6, 110 lbs minimum to lose to be in normal BMI, however I'd like to get twenty pounds, lower than that. I'm young, and female. Anyone close to these states, are especially asked to reply Thanks.

I was a virgin DS with about 80 pounds to lose--lightweight with 5 comorbidities going in to all of this. I lost about 8 pounds pre-op before the chart below.

Wow Gina you are amazing, great stats. I wish I would have kept a record.

You might be better thinking about overall weight loss. Most people with the DS make at least 80% of EWL (estimated weight loss) within 12 to 18 months. If your shooting for 110 pounds lost that would put you anywhere from 80-110. I hit 80% at about 15 months and continue to lose off and on.

The problem with what your asking is that many of us "stair step" on loss. We lose, stall for a while, and then lose more. For me first couple
of months went great and then I started having stalls.

Well it has been a great ride but I started at 373 and I have lost an average of 15 pounds a month .I am out about 13 months and down 170 pounds.I no longer am on low carbs and I seem to maintain the last 2 months even with the extra carb intake.I sure do hope it stays that way...not sure if it will catch up with me or not.

Thanks for sharing everyone. That percentage helped as well. I'm moving and have some "skinny" clothes so I'm trying to also decipher if I should hold on to them or sell/donate them before I move. Decisions.. Hmmm..

Not sure this will help you but it took 1 year for me to lose all I needed.  I'm 5' 6" and started around 240 and was at 130 at 1 year.  I have now gained up to 142 after almost 8 years.  I feel the best around 136 but I would have to work at that 6 pounds.  :)

I did eat good that first year to make sure I lost the weight.  I eat good most everyday but have treats in the evening.

Ruby

Edited to add:  I stayed off the scale for the whole year, only got weighed at the surgeons office.  I did my part by eating good and let the surgery do it's part.
