Are there any pre early warning signs of problems from the ds? All of a sudden I have this horrible fear of a pending problem and that I am going to die. I dunno where it is coming from I am almost 3 weeks post surgery.

Can someone b tell me what signs to look fir that there might be a problem. .

If you had a problem you would know it by now.  3 weeks post is already past the time for most of the big(serious) complications.

I'm not sure there are any "early" warning signs. At this point your worry should be mainly dehydration. I didn't go through that maybe someone can chime in what to look for but track your liquids so you know. If you were going to have some surgical thing (infection, leak) it would have happened already and you would have been really sick or in a lot of pain.

Totally normal to be worried and actually I think is is a good pro-active attitude to have. Try to be at 30 gms of protein by the end of your first month. As time goes on you may watch for signs of protein deficiency (swelling of the legs) but these are pretty rare as long as you are meeting some basic protein goals.

If you are seriously having fears of death, perhaps it would be good for you to talk with the psychologist at your surgeon's office.  As for everything in life, we cannot live in fear of what might happen.  If you focus on something that could go wrong, our minds can mess with us.  We have to live each day doing what we know is the right thing to do and in your case now, focus on protein and liquids or soft foods (depending in what your advice has been from the nutritionist).  And walk.  Let your body heal.  You should already be seeing a change on the scales -- enjoy that and the future with a smaller and healthier body.

Any directly related to surgery problems would have already surfaced by now, I would think. Long-terms problems? Well, various vitamin and mineral deficiencies have various early-warning signs. So does protein malnutrition, etc. That's why it's very important to get regular lab work done, track your results, get in your protein, and so on.

The best hing you can do is to hang on-line with several DS-specific groups, and listen to what the vets can tell you. Also keep researching for yourself. I'm 10+ years post-op, and I'm still learning,
