Didn't get to meet my doctor (must  been on call) got his GP instead. She said with my weight and BMI, my doctor would tell me DS be use RNY and Sleeve will have less results. Don't know if I should trust that.

She's probably right.  The DS has the highest rate of weight loss and lowest rate of regain.  There are many RNY and Sleeve patients that are getting revised because of poor results or rapid regain.

I think she told you the truth andi would trust that. Your BMI is high and consider yourself lucky that your surgeon endorses and does th DS. Many surgeons just try to sell patients what whatever surgery theydomost, regardless of what the pT really needs.

What HollyKim said. Most of the time, we see surgeons who don't do the DS working hard to talk people out of it, not because that's in the patient's best interest, but because they don't do the DS and don't want to lose a paying customer. You lucked out.

While the DS works great for people with all bmi's that qualify for bariatric surgery, it is especially valuable for people with higher bmi's. It has the best statistics of any bariatric surgery for percentage excess weight loss, for maintenance of that weight loss, and for resolution of almost all comorbidities. We see new people all the time with other operations who either never lost nearly enough weight, or who lost and gained back a large amount of weight after a few years. As hard as it is to face bariatric surgery once, it must be so much harder to face it twice.

You are getting good advice. I think it would have helped you greatly to speak with the surgeon personally, so that's what I would recommend as your next step, if at all possible.
