Slow losers? Any hope of a healthy BMI?
I was kind of worried that my calories are too low - On MyFitnessPal, I'm usually loggging around 1,200-1,500 calories a day, much of which is malabsorbed...I'm just not sure how to up it. I graze most of the day. Suggestions on how to up fat would be highly appreciated. I'm not really a fan of hot coffee, so bpc is out... I only do iced...with tons of hwc and SF syrup... (I don't like my coffee to taste like coffee LOL).
The HWC in the coffee is good. Avocados are good, frying everything, good cheeses, and eating nuts is how I do it also. I eat fatty meats just because they taste better and of course bacon. Cream cheese is also a good fat. There are some recipes for Fat Bombs floating around here. I used those early out as a treat.
It just dawns on me now that all fats are fairly expensive as a food source. Just don't miss a chance to get some in.
I got stuck at weights that were my old stall levels (I've dieted my whole life). The body remembers, and it won't want to drop below those points. Be patient, start doing HIIT exercise, and weigh yourself once a month.
I made a choice to do a 75cc instead of a 50cc that my surgeon wanted, so I didn't lose as much as I wanted. If I had done a 50cc, I would be at goal now. On the other hand, I will have less nutritional issues. It's a tradeoff. No one knows how each body will react to the surgery, and how long your common channel should be to maximize weight lose. You will have to work harder to squeeze every pound out of this surgery.
And the veterans will tell you to maximize the losing window of 18 months. I'm here to tell you that is the truth. Cause 18 months comes pretty quick, and weight loss gets harder after that.
I just tried BPC anyway (with lots of SF english toffee syrup!) - 1 tbsp unsalted butter, 1 tbsp coconut oil. It was okay, but made my throat feel scratchy - wonder why? But you are right, good fat sources are EXPENSIVE. Butter really is. But so are protein sources. I eat a lot of lean meats - chicken especially - because Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts are 1.98/lb VS beef which is $3.50+/lb. Ouch. I made some AMAZING stew the other night with some beef chunks, though. Unfortunately it wasn't very fatty though. I use cream cheese liberally - so much so that I bought 3lbs of it at Sam's Club LOL. It's like a giant velveeta log...but of cream cheese. I make a Cream Cheese Chicken recipe in the crockpot frequently. Anyway, it's still rare for me to get over 100g fat a day, when I need to be getting 150g+. I'm just going to have to work at it. Thanks!
EDIT: By the way, I made some chocolate peanut butter fat bombs in the past. The weird thing is they make me crave sweets big time. I have no idea why. I can eat SF chocolate, like one piece, and be fine, but these fat bombs make me want chocolate and sweet things like crazy. Weird.
I think you are doing just great. You know, there will be times when you will lose a fair amount of weight and then there will be other times when there will be less of weight loss.It will depend a lot on many factors, like your kind of food intake or even you metabolic rate.Well, keep trying and keep away from stress. You did not gain all this weight in a day so stop worrying about losing it in a day.
Before my surgery, I thought (and hoped) the weekly losses would be around 3-4 lbs. Then I watched some of the YouTube videos that DSers posted and realized that was not realistic. I averaged about 2 lbs a week, which really is much healthier and safer. Yeah, there are stalls, I just came thru another one and They Are Frustrating. But you really are doing great. Surprise your metabolism with some sugar or carbs every once in a while. I find that when I do that periodically, I lose. The surgery was not a magic bullet, but it certainly got me losing more and faster than other weight loss programs I tried in the past. And I never stuck to one of those like I have on this trip. You'll continue losing. You really will.
Some lose slower then opthers for sure. Your carbs look good at 50. I would up your protien some, like whey and some casein protien would help. I guess I did not see if you are a man or women, but if your a dude i would shoot for 150-200 grames of protien a day or more and get about 50% of your calories from fat depending on how it effects you. Also your vitamins are important, check out Vitalady.com you can see what you should be taking. Check out dsfacts.com. Good luck, just keep on going.
I am having, now, the problem you were having. How did it turn out? Was upping the fat a success, how is your wt loss rate now?
