I have been reading posts here for a while and have gotten so much great information already. I just found out my surgery request has been approved. I thought I know I am going to need some support through this so it was about time to introduce myself and become a participant.

I originally was applying for Sleeve, but then found about DS and had them revise my case. My case was submitted last Friday 6/13 and all the pieces got to insurance Anthem Blue Cross (BCBS) of CA yesterday. When I called to check status today, they told me my request had been approved.

I am sort of lightweight so was worried. I have just barely made the BMI of 40 on my visits to surgeon for consults.

I have gathered all kinds of tips from you guys so far, but feel I will need support moving forward and this is finally real for me.

Thanks for sharing so much, I look forward to passing that forward as I can.

Hey LizzleCoop,  I was a lite wt too. After being accepted by the surgeon, his"team member"the doctor consult argued with me that I did not qualify for the DS as I was bearly 41% BMI. I am a foodie and would not consider any other type of WLS. The best of both worlds.  The lingering down-side has been the atrocious incompatable with being social.  Best to You.

Congratulations!

We've seen lots of "lightweights" do great with the DS, so you are not alone. There is so much more to the choice of surgery than your bmi. If you have done your research and know that the DS is right for you, just stick to your guns and you'll do fine.
