So tired

I am about 12 weeks out from my surgery and I still get tired easily. I often have an aversion to food. It is hard to make myself eat. Nothing tastes good too me. I eat because I know that I must. Is this normal? Will it pass? If so, when?

Hi,

You are still very early out from surgery give yourself time. I had to force myself to eat also for a long time but it all changed as time went on, all though I still feel better if I stick with shakes rather then food. I like food and can eat ok but maybe my shakes are just easier and I'm lazy :) Take your time it will get better :)

Hello! I just wanted to say I am about 12 weeks out also and I hate food for the most part as well. I think about eating, what things used to taste like, textures, and remember no pains in my stomach, then I eat and instantly dislike the taste of food. I guess this is common, reading on here everyday makes me feel like this is normal, however mentally its kind of hard to get used to.Also my energy level is driving me nuts! I work, or do anything a few hours at a time and then I get really tired and fatigued. Good luck, just remember your not alone!- Mike

Early out, eating and drinking are full-time jobs.  Definitely make sure you're drinking plenty, for dehydration causes fatigue...and not getting enough calories does, too.  Don't wait until you "want" to eat, just eat because you have to, and make it something meaningful.

I agree with the sentiment that early out eating and drinking are jobs. I remember scheduling my meals because I
had no hunger and felt no need to eat. It started to pass between 3 and 4 months.

To show how crazy it made me. I went from worrying that I would never like food again to worrying about wanting
food too much. Time has shown that I was wrong on both counts.

Give it time it will pass.

Thanks everyone. I just wondered if my issues with food would ever go away. I made a 3 day trip last week and did much better than I expected. I was lucky in that the friend I visited had just had dental surgery and did not try to feed me or take me out. I went to the local grocery store and picked up cottage cheese and such off the salad bar for meals. Discovered that I can eat boiled shrimp just fine. That gives me another protein option. I think that I expect too much from my remodeled insides.

All seafood sits well with me. Better than any other kind of food.  I am 9 months out and my energy level for the last month has been amazing!! Crazy how much energy I have.  So hang in there , it will get better.
