ileostomy and D/S HELP ME PLEASE

Hi All,

I post every so often here and I enjoy reading your replies.  I had my D/S in 2009 and I lost about 150 pounds! YAY.  However, due to the substantial increase in pooping I developed a significant number of internal hemorrhoids including some prolapsed hemorrhoids.  In 2012 I had a PPH or Hemorrhoid Stapling procedure.  I had significant trouble including severe rectal pain and continuous bleeding.  I was hospitalized for several weeks and got pancreatitus.  I had 2 more bouts of pancreatitus and I ended up having ulcers of my rectum and colon as well as the development of a highly infected fistula requiring a fistualotomy.  It was all getting better and I started bleeding again, I have severe pain in the rectum  and another fistula.

So my doctors including my d/s surgeon are moving in the direction of a temporary ileostomy.  Anybody have this done?  Anybody have this procedure?  I have significant vitamin deficiencies that are being addressed by my d/s and endocrinologist.  Anybody have any ideas?

I have never had it done but as  a nurse I have taken care of a few of them. This should just be a temporary thing until your Hiney is healed.

I found this info for you. You need to ask your doctor if it is temporary.

In a temporary ileostomy, a loop of the small intestine is brought through the skin, and the colon and rectum are not removed. Temporary ileostomies are also often made as the first stage in surgical construction of an ileo-anal pouch, so fecal material doesn't enter the newly-made pouch until it heals and has been tested for leaks—usually a period of eight to ten weeks. The temporary ileostomy is then "taken down" (or reversed) by surgically repairing the loop of intestine which made the temporary stoma and closing the skin incision.
