Excess skin after surgery
It is what it is and it has no relationship to the speed of the loss. Skin will shrink slowly for up to 2 years after weight loss. What you end up depends on your age, how long you were fat, and your genetics. And skin has no muscle to tighten up. You can make the skin look better by developing the muscle layer underneath the skin but working out does exactly nothing to limit the amount of excess skin you may have.
Apply snake oil liberally if it makes you feel better but it won't shrink your excess skin. And keeping your skin well hydrated may make it look a little better temporarily but it does not shrink excess skin.
There is only one way to get rid of excess skin. Plastic surgery. Period. Then you trade skin for scars. That's just the ugly truth. In some cases, insurance will pay, especially with documented problems, rashes, etc. If this is going to bother you, start saving now. There are some very good surgeons out there who are reasonable. Sauceda in MX comes to mind immediately. It does work. I have seen some amazing pictures.
Next, the good news. You will look great in clothes. You will learn how to deal with it effectively. And excess skin or not, you will look better than when you were heavy.
Probably not the answer you would like to hear. There isn't much you can do. Exercise will help if there is a limited amount of skin but I can tell looking
at my excess skin that nothing short of plastics will help some areas. I weighed 550 at one point so my skin
is pretty far stretched. I'm now down to 270 and working with Dumbbells to see if I can make some progress on my arms
but I don't have high expectations. Good luck!
The above speak the truth. I started bodybuilding and thought that maybe the amount of muscles that I was putting on would have an impact on the skin...not the case. I'm going in for my second round of plastics in a month. IN all honesty? ALL worth it. I wouldn't give any of it back! I would rather have the excess skin than the heart problems, diabetes scares and sleep apnea I was dealing with before the weight loss
