Hi All

I had my DS 3 years ago.  One co morbidity I could not get rid of is high blood pressure , infact about a year ago a second bp med was added to help lower it.   It is still running high so my dr changed my meds around and one of the new med is cozaar.   So my question is for anyone on cozaar have you had any side effects.   One I just read is weight gain.  Gr until your body adjusts

thank you

HTN is not a co-morbidity and is not curable. It might become more manageable once you have lost weight due to less stress on your body but WLS surgery does not cure HTN. Once you get thinner  you may actually be able to get off your medication even (small chance) but once you have HTN you will always have HTN.

Weight gain is a side effect of Cozaar but you prolly will not have to worry about that too much due to the DS.

Some insurances do consider it a comorbidity.  In my EOC from BCBS it has it listed as one, as well as on DSFacts.com.  DSFacts.com also shows an 83% resolution of hypertension.

I am in the same boat as you, your doctor might need to adjust your meds as the DS can cause malasborption I am currently on Adalat and Tenoretic to manager my BP.

Good luck
