Considering DS
Yeah, I dropped Barker for Stewart. I hated his assembly line practice and the fact that after four visits I never met the man. They rushed me through the line like cattle to slaughter. I dug deeper and read some reviews. He has had some happy people but the majority I read were not happy. He advertises he is the best when in fact he has little experience with DS compared to the vet surgeons. There is more to my story but I do not like speaking ill about anyone in a public forum.
Ayoola assisted Stewart in my surgery he had a good mentor and I have read good reviews about him. It is all about who makes you comfortable though. One of my close friends used Barker and she is fine but she had a virgin DS. For something as complicated as a revision I would certainly not choose him. That is my personal opinion.
Hi Yvonne- I am an RNY to DS. I originally lost 50 lbs with my RNY but then gained most of it back because I ended up with a fistula. Because my husband is retired military I am able to use the surgeons here at Madigan Army Medical. They have an excellent bariatric program so I was comfortable with my decision. I was able to request the best Dr on Staff- a bariatric surgeon of 40 years. He was outstanding. He took down the old RNY, rebuilt my stomach and did the DS. It was a long surgery- about 5 hours but it went smoothly and I have had no complications. I had a tummy tuck done several months ago and am now down to a size 12 and have lost 140lbs total. I still have about 20lbs to lose but am very comfortable where I am at. I am 63 so no spring chicken here but am much healthier and happier than I have been in years. We all have that fear and what ifs but find a surgeon you know you can trust and put your faith in him. Everything else will fall into place for you. My only regret is wishing I had done this sooner because I wasted a lot of years being heavy and not able to do the things I now do.
