RYN to DS Revision!!!

Hi everyone l will like to hear from anyone who had revision from RYN to DS in Mexico, l  have to  pay out of pocket so my only option is Mexico. l had a phone consultation with Dr Jesus Ortiz from Tijuana and his charge is around 7k but am not sure  so please if anyone out there had revision with this doctor l will like to hear from you. Thanks

Danger ahead!

Revision from RNY to DS is the hardest and highest risk bariatric surgery being done. There are only a handful of surgeons who do it, and none in Mexico. I have never heard of this surgeon doing the DS at all, let alone this very complicated and challenging operation. Even the excellent DS surgeons in Mexico don't do these revisions. They will revise from lap band or sleeve, yes, but not from RNY.

And 7K - even for a virgin DS you won't find a surgeon at that price, and that includes Mexico. The only surgeons in Mexico that I (and most others here) would recommend for a DS are Dr. Ungson and Dr. Aceves.

given the nature of this revision and the high rate of complications, potential need for longer hospitalization, potential need for reoperations, etc, this is just not an operation where you can cut corners on price. I totally understand that you have just so much money available, and that's a big concern, but this is a risk you just should not take.

In the USA, there are surgeons who are highly qualified for this type of revision but yes, they cost more (frankly, for 7K you aren't going to get a revision from RNY to DS even in Mexico, I believe you are being misinformed, and that's the kindest way I can put it). I would suggest that you contact the American surgeons who do RNY to DS revision and find out costs. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it. Whatever issues you have now, at least you are alive and kicking. Going to an unqualified surgeon for this type of operation could well cost you your life.

Try Dr. Keshishian in Glendale CA (near Los Angeles) or dr. John Rabkin in san Francisco for self-pay rates if you're in the West. If you're back East, contact Dr. Mitchell Roslin in NYC. There are a couple others out there, I'm sure someone else will complete the list.

Frankly, I doubt you can even get a lap band in Mexico for 7K, let alone a RNY to DS revision.

Hi Larra thanks for your reply yes l contacted Dr k office but their price was 27 k and l ask for some payment plan but they want want full payment of hospital fees which add up to 13k does why l even start looking into Mexico.
