pre op labs

I had my pre op labs drawn a couple months ago. I had a couple things that needed to be addressed before I would be released for surgery. One of those things were my white blood cells being too high. We waited a month and I had a lab redraw. All my problem areas were fixed, but my WBC are still elevated. I am not sure what is next. Anyone else have an issue with WBC being too high? What did your surgeon or pcp have you do? I am so frustrated. This is the only thing holding me back from surgery!

Doesn't a high WBC usually mean your body is fighting an infection? I don't know that there's anything we can do without a doc prescribing something to address the infection. Just guessing though.

Yea it definitely is an indicator that I am fighting something, but my WBC hasnt changed since last month, so whatever I am fighting is lingering around. I have no signs or symptoms of any obvious infection. I just am confused why I am just waiting another month, and redrawing labs over and over. I thought since my labs were still elevated they would give me a wide spectrum antibiotic to kick whatever it is, but they didnt. It just is depressing knowing I am so close, but I have one thing stopping me and I cant fix it.

Any news on your high WBC count?

They rechecked them on the morning of surgery.  They were back to normal. They constantly go up and down for me.
