Hello every one I am looking for some help finding a Doctor in CA that performs the diversion and duodenal switch and will take Medical. I hear there are a few. Can any one point me to some?

You could try Dr. Keshishian in Glendale. I know he takes Medicare, not sure about Medi-cal.

Dr. Crookes at USC might or might not be accepting new patients. Or he might have retired. Again, a phone call will settle it.

There is a Dr. Coates in the Modesto area who I believe has recently begun doing the DS. I have no idea whether or not he accepts Medi-cal.

Dr. Rabkin in San Francisco definitely does not take Medi-cal.

That's all the DS surgeons that I know of in CA. There are some groups out there who claim they do the DS but really don't, and will try to suck you into a different operation once they get you into their offices, so you need to be careful.

Ty. I will look into it more.  I have talked to a few of the doctors you mentioned and they didn't take medical.

For some reason I remember Peter Cirangle as a DS  surgeon. I don't know about excepting Medi-cal but at least it's worth a try. Also keep in mind that even though they may not take it if you can get everything authorized/approved you can still have surgery with one of these doctors. I have an HMO. Believe me when I say I had to fight for it but when I was finished the person in charge of payments said he's never had it that easy. I had everything taken care of being that I had to go all the way to the dept of managed healthcare in order to get my surgery approved. Good luck to you.
