6 Months Lab Results - Question about Vitamin A & D

Hi Everyone!

I finally got my results back. Would you mind taking a look to see if anything sticks out?

My Vitamin A is still not where it should be, even though I'm taking 100,000IU dry right now (since 2.5 months ago)

My Vitamin D fell from last time (I was taking 100,000IU every day, but dropped down to 50,000IU 2.5 months ago)

Should I increase both Vitamin A and Vitamin D?

Is there anything else I need to watch out for?

Thanks for all of the help!

I just went through this with my 1 year labs so hardly an expert. Here are a couple of things.

That is quite a D drop for 3 months.  I would go back to the 100k. Did you do anything different
after cutting the D like moving the dose to a different time or mixing in different vitamins than the first 3 months?

Just something to try with the vitamin A. Can you take it at night away from all other vits? I take my A with Zinc at night
and it is slowly coming up. Sometimes just isolating a trouble vitamin can help.

Good deal that the PTH is coming down. As for the rest I'm just not knowledgeable enough to say. Only one other thing jumps out at me.
I was told to shoot for 7 on my protein and 4 on albumin (right on for the ablumin). Maybe a little unsettling that the protein
trending down. How are you doing protein wise?

I know I can do better with my protein intake. I will add a protein shake or two daily to see if that helps the number go up next time.

And I will take the Vit A away from everything else. Is it ok to take all at once? Right now, I take 25,000IU 4 times per day at least 2 hours apart.

Thanks!

I'm not really a good judge if it is OK to take all at once. Maybe someone else will chime in.

I don't take nearly that amount so it didn't concern me to take it all at once. I take 20k.

What brand are you using? Biotech is the only one we should use for A and D.

I'm taking Biotech for both A & D.

Is 125,000 IU of A too much to take?

I think I'll also do 100k of D to see how that changes things.

Thanks!!

How much were you taking up until these labs?  100,000 iu is the standard vitamin A Vitalady amount for when you're not deficient, so 125,000 would be fine, but if you were already taking that much you'd need to higher.  If you were only doing 50,000 then hopefully you'll recover your levels soon with 125,000.

I was taking 100,000IU for about 2.5 - 3 months before these labs (ever since my last labs when I was advised to bump it up).

I started taking an extra 25,000IU today.

Thanks!!

I do like some of the trends I'm seeing in your iron and your Vitamin A.

Perhaps move your calcium away from your other vitamins as much as possible. Calcium can be an absorption bully and cut the others off.

Add some more K1 and also add vitamin K2. K2 can help with vitamin D absorption and will help bring down the osteocalcin lab. I take 4 of Vitalady's/BioTech's 150mcg capsules a day but you may be ok with 2 or 3. I like seeing the PTH coming down, that's the right direction.

B12 is fine being high.

B6 can be stubborn about coming down once it gets up and over the range. You could stop the B-complex and only supplement vitamin B1 and depend on your multi for the other Bs.

Good job!

Thanks, Gina!

I'm taking one capsule of K1 and two of K2 right now (all Biotech). I will bump it up to 2 of K1 and 3 of K2.

I'll stop the B-complex and see how that changes things.

Thanks!!!
