DS in Mexico???

Has anyone had a DS In Mexico? I want yo get a revision from lapband to DS but Ofcourse my insurance is fighting me. If you went to Mexico to have your DS surgery, can you give me all your info and experience?

No personal experience but Dr Ungson is the best there is in Mex.

I had the DS with Dr. Ungson.  I chose to do it open, I was not a revision.  He did it in about 2.5 hours.  He had an M.D. assistant in OR.  I stayed in the hospital for 3 - 4 days, I think, then in a hotel for another 4 - 6 days.  His coordinator, Luz Sandoval, was a great resources - speaks perfect English.  Ungson speaks pretty good English.  Luz coordinated the payments & the hotel stay.  I had a lot of initial concern, as did many family members & friends, about going to Mexico for surgery, but what is quite different about it is that it is a private hospital, not a public hospital.  The quality of care is much better in a private hospital.  I had no immediate complications.  He removed my gall bladder as standard procedure.  Overall, extremely satisfied.

Does he do his surgery in Tiajuana and pick you up in San Diego?

When I had the DS, I flew into the province of Sonora and Luz picked me up.  My sister came with me and they had a sofa (or sofa sleeper?  I don't remember) for her to sleep on in my room while I was in the hospital.  Regarding Larra's reply, I had forgotten the assistant M.D.'s name, but I think it was Dr. Aceves - he also speaks perfect English.

Dr. Ungson has been doing the DS for years and has an excellent reputation. Dr. Aceves is newer to the DS, having learned from Dr. Ungson, though with lots of prior sleeve and other bariatric surgery experience. These are the only DS surgeons in Mexico that I would recommend.
