revision to sleeve to ds later?
I met with Dr. K in Grand Rapids, MI. I understand he does RNY TO DS REVISION, my understanding not everyone is reputable to do them. He recommends I go to the sleeve I have a few hernias that needs to be removed at the same time and a gallbladder. He feels for my safety the DS will be to risky all at once. I also was informed that most RNY"s before 2009 the common limb was placed behind the colon which will take longer? I was wondering if any one else has been thru this? I like Dr. K a lot he was easy to talk to and did not make me feel rushed, I also felt like he had my best interest at heart. To make a long story short my labs are to off to do any thing right now has any one been thru this???
I haven't but others here have had Dr Keshisian in CA do difficult RNY to DS revisions. You might think about have him giving you a second opinion if you can get all your files and reports to him. Keep us posted.

I don't have an answer for you - just wanted to also say I don't think it would hurt to get a second opinion if possible. It is a very complex surgery and you do sound like you have some additional concerns.
I will say that I had a lapband, then a lapband repair, then just got the DS and my surgeon said that with each surgery, the risk for complications increases. So if you can avoid having multiple surgeries, it might be safer.
GOOD LUCK with whichever path you choose!!!
There is a thread on the proboards site about Dr. K which mentions a rny to DS revision.
I think he has a very good reputation. Of course, Dr. K in CA has probably the best reputation and experience. I would definitely consider getting a second opinion from him.

Dr. Kenmeter does have an excellent reputation has done RNY to DS revision, but it does sound like your situation is complicated. I agree with everyone else about getting a second opinion, and would recommend either Dr. Keshishian or Dr. Rabkin, both in CA for this. You have nothing to lose by getting a second opinion, and even if you end up with the same recommendation at least you can feel more confident that you are making your best possible decision.

You're more likely to reach goal with a single step DS, so if you can I'd recommend going that route.
