My lowest weight was 133 when I got sick last year and my primary doctor told me I was under weight.

My ideal weight it's 145

Since last November I been eating so bad and im always thinking about food. I know weight 170, I don't want to keep gaining weight, I also eat to the point that my stomach hurst, I need help.

Can someone share a diet or some experince with me, I need it.

Thank you

I, too, had my DS in October 2011 and weigh 133. I am 5-7. I have not experienced any weight regain, and the amount you have regained at a little over two years, is not normal.

It could be your surgery. Do you have your surgery report?

Most likely, its you. You admit you need help. Eating to the point where your stomach hurts and always thinking about food, are signs of an eating disorder. I would suggest counseling.

Why were you sick last year? Are you following the DS eating and vitamin plan?

What was your start weight?

my weight loss had stop at 148, then my anemia got really bad and couldn't really eat and I also had my galblatter removed, and that's when I lost all the way to 133.

then I stayed at 147 - 150 for quite a while. around october last year I started eating more and more and around the holidays till now I have gain till 170.

I have a docs app. next wed to discuss more.

I have to confess, I have never really taken my protein or vitamins how I should, neither I have excersice.

I started giving my self more attention now.

thank you for sharing your story and reading mine.

I am not a seasoned DSer .... But i just wanted to say that if you were normally around 150 and are now 170, in my opinion after being a lifetime dieter (and a former lapband patient) - it is crazy easy for me to gain 20 pounds. Now it should be different with the DS because of malabsorption (I am only 6 weeks out) - but I think the fact that you recognize that at 170, you are headed in the wrong direction is a great start. It's a vicious cycle to start gaining weight and then get depressed about that and eat even more.

I think the best thing you can do for yourself now is go back to where you were right after surgery -- eating protein, protein, protein. Eat small meals with as little carbs as possible (try to stay at 50g per day or less) and drink lots of water. Staying well hydrated can keep the hunger at bay.  Try to get active and exercise as much as you can.  And remember that it might not fall off fast - but if you stick with it, I bet you'll be back around 150 before you know it.

And yes - get on the correct vitamin schedule! That is so important!!

My srating weight was 240ish.

My gall bladder was removed at the time of my DS and I also have suffered from anemia and need infusions.

I am not sure how much being sick had to do with your weightloss. Definitely a surgery would affect things, but I havent heard of people losing weight with anemia. What I have heard, by many, is that you can continue to lose weight at 2 to 2 1/2 years out from your DS surgery. I continued to lose a little bit after two years, posted a thread about it, and was shocked how many people continued to lose, albeit SLOWLY.

You have much bigger problems if you aren't getting in your protein or taking your vites. That's a big reason for your weight regain. But a number on the scale is nothing compared to the position you are putting your health in. You will die of deficiencies and malnutrition if you don't eat your protein and take your vites. Period. You need to focus on those two things and forget about the scale (which will undoubtedly, correct itself).

Also, your poor physical health could be adding to the "mental" issues you are having with food.

If you can stop the carbs...you will not be so hungry all the time. When I put in carbs I want more and more. It might just help. After 3 days of low carb...you will be less hungry !

I would be far more concerned about your not taking the necessary vitamins and not eating protein than about the weight regain. There is so much more to our health than our weight! Based on what you have told us about yourself, it sounds like you need far more help than what a bunch of well meaning strangers on a message board can give you, and by that I mean professional help from a psychiatrist or psychologist. It is not normal for someone with a sleeve to eat to where your stomach hurts. You seem to recognize this, which is a start, but as to why you are doing this are how to get out of that behavoir, that's where you need help. And if you don't keep up with protein and vitamins, you will develop nutritional deficiencies that are far more difficult to fix than they are to prevent.

Please get the help you need to get yourself back on track with your protein and vitamins before it's too late. The extra pounds are not what you want, of course, but it's the nutritional deficiencies that will kill you.

I appreciate everyones response.

I started taking my vitamins/ protein and I have a doctor's appointment on Wednesday.

I have to see the positive side of what I'm going through.

I have lost so much for the lack of discipline I have had. This is an opportunity I'm getting to reset my mind and body to start a good discipline exercising, eating right and drinking my vitamins and protein.

I have lost over 180 pounds and I am pround of myself for noticing I had a problem and to restart now.

I'm glad you are getting back on track. Especially with your vitamins. Can you talk a little bit about what you did diet wise when the Doc told you that you wre underweight? Looking back at it do you think your reaction to that had anything to do with your regain?

Larra is right. Healthy comes in many sizes so I wouldn't let yourself be overwhelmed with the weaight gain. Just something to get back to working on. If your shooting for 145 then you are 25 pounds over. I think going back to your initial DS diet of low arbs and high protein will help with both the weight and the hunger pangs.

Good for you to address the issues.

When the doctor told me I was under weight I was also super low in Iron. My main goal at that time was getting back to have my iron level up and eating anything basically to gain energy and be back in my feet, since during those days I was extremly weak.

Never thought about my having a reaction to what the doc's said, but it sounds like a thing I might caring for.

Pete I appreciate your comment.

As well as I appreciate everyone that took the time to get back to my initial messege.

I recognize that the lack of a support group and someone to walk this journey with me took me here. But fortunetly I'm alive and I've started to care for me before I care for others.
