About 10 days ago I broke out into hives. I didn't change anything like detergent or anything to warrant this. I also have abnormal gas and really stinky stool. Has anyone ever had a similar experience? Has anyone had bouts with hives?

I am sorry that you are having these issues.  Don't think I can be much help with the hives, but I can try with the other matter.

When did you have your surgery? Did you change any meds, vitamins, or add any new food to your routine?

I had my DS in 2005. I have been eating different things....but I do agree with the fact that this is a bacterial imbalance. I have been taking a probiotic...not sure if acidophilus is enough.?

Im not sure what is causing your hives, but have you tried some Benadryl? It worked for mine years ago.....

Are you taking a probiotic or at least eating daily yogurt?  The abnormal gas and really stinky stool (more than the usual stink) can be from a bacterial imbalance in the bowels.  I'm no doc, but I think I've heard of infections causing such things, like scarlet fever, but that's staph, I think, unrelated to the bowels. I can tell by the aroma (if you want to call it that), that my bacteria is getting out of whack, but it takes a few bouts to recognize it. In the meantime, know that we are prone to bacteria imbalances, and be sure to keep your body populated with the good bugs.
