Your take on common channel length
I was told by someone here that the length was more so about maintenance than weight loss. What are your thoughts?
My surgeon tailors the length to the individual plus he mentioned how everyone is different but he did mention something around 125 cm which works for me, 150 would be fine.
So in short if two identical twins with the same surgery/eating patterns and weight, with one with a longer channel would one lose more, less, the same? Thanks
They might initially lose the same but it would be easier for the one with a short common channel to maintain more of the weight loss. The malabsorption of a shorter common channel keeps on giving. The one with the longer common channel might have less micronutrient absorption issues and maybe a little less gas.

Oh okay. That helps. So in short it looks like in the long run it helps having the shorter one keeping it off and the "short run" less issues with nutrients. So I think for me as a revision for sleeve to DS it really won't matter weight wise since it seems like weight loss is mostly through the sleeve first and intestines second. I think the surgeon will leave my sleeve the same so it doesnt look like it matters is that's the case.
My surgeon told me I would likely lose a little more weight (maybe 20 lbs) with a shorter common channel - 100cm versus 150cm - but said the trade off was a higher risk of nutrient deficiencies. So in the end I decided I would go with the longer channel because I was worried about the deficiency issues. But I have seen lots of people say their CC is even shorter than 100cm. Some are happy and some are not ... It is such an individual issue because we are all so different.
Not sure that helps. :) Good luck with your surgery!!
My common channel is 150 cm & I just reached a normal BMI 2 days ago on my 14-month surgiverssary (yeah for me!). My labs are great and I have no bathroom issues. I get gas and bloating if I eat too many carbs, but no 'loose' stools...I actually lean more towards constipation. I think it is a YMMV thing...good luck!
I PM'd you yesterday....but this is what I take...it all comes from Vitalady & is tweeked based on my labs. Edited to add: I take ALOT of Vit A due to being on the low-side of normal in my labs.
