revison from ds to medial rny
Hi all,
I had DS 7 years ago and my common channel was made on the shorter side 65 cm. I am on and off with the vits; which is no bueno.... but I am also hungry all the time and a test shows that the stomach isn't really holding food like it should. The revision has been approved and is set for 2/26. The plan is to lengthen the intestines to 100 cm to allow for better absorption of vits and to revise the stomach to medial RNY to limit food intake. I have confidence in the surgeon's skills but am kind of freaking out.
Thoughts?
Okay, I can understand the lengthening of the common channel BUT WHY IN THE HELL are you gonna get rid of your pyloric valve?

Why in the world are you getting rid of your pyloric valve? Not a good idea at all! Are you needing to lose more weight? Why exactly are you getting a revision? And take your damn vites? That is non-negotiable....even with whatever you end up getting. When was your last comprehensive blood draw?

Surgeon feels that in order to mitigate weight gain from increased absorption , to make the stomach smaller and with the RNY it will be the right size. I am going to ask if he can do that but leave the Pvalve.
You have had rny revised to ds? What happened? So our anatomy would be pretty much the same. Do you have issues b/c of no p valve?
Had lots of problems with my RNY. I have my pyloric valve. In a TRUE RNY to DS revision, the surgeon reconnects the pouch to the remnant stomach and then forms the sleeve. Your surgeon can make the stomach smaller by resleeving....however, you need to be careful and make sure you have an experienced revision surgeon.
