So I'm home now and while I am finding that I really dislike the taste the water,  I actually feel hungry for real food.  Is this totally weird? Should I be worried?

Welcome home and congrats on your DS! I wouldn't be worried, this early out I suspect that you think you want food but once you take a bite or two I suspect you'll change your mind, and not want it anymore.... I still feel like that and Im nine months out.....One day at a time.....sip, sip, sip, get your fluids in. Try some crystal light......

Welcome to the dark side! : )

Taste buds are super sensitive and the most ordinary things taste bad. I like to add a squeeze of lime to water and sweeten to taste with Splenda or Truvia. Hunger this early out may be head hunger. Try a few things and see how you do. Don't force yourself. Keep your snacks very small.

Glad you made it home. Not sure if your doctor requires you to be on a 2 week liquid diet post o*****t but mine did. I was glad I only took a week off work because every food commercial made me want to eat and even though I could barely drink it was messing with my head. SO I would say it is normal to want to eat at this point but take things slowly.

Thank you all for your responses and advice. I've found that it was the bottled Crystal Geyser from the hospital that I couldn't stand. Now that I'm home I haven't had any issue with the filtered water from my fridge. Thank goodness.

My protocol is a liquid-only diet for a week (so until Tuesday), then it's a pureed diet for a week (sounds so gross), and then soft foods for 2 weeks. After that I can start introducing regular foods.

Food commercials are getting to me as well. Definitely head hungry.

Congratulations. Good to hear you are home ans starting the recovery process. I saw that your good with the water at home - glad to hear that. You might also want to try some warm liquids, decaf tea, broth, etc. Having a little variety always helped me and for some reason I could sip the broth easier than anything else.

Thanks.  I've been okay with herbal tea but just the idea of broth makes me feel queasy.  Hopefully that will change soon enough.
