Hi..

Feb 15 I will be 3 years post op... Posting to see if anyone else has been dealing with this issue.. In the past 2 weeks, today was the 2nd episode I have had of getting shaky, hot and a bit dizzy... Used the husbands glucometer to test my blood sugar (I am not diabetic) and today it was 58 and last week was 52.. So this is a true sign of hypoglycemia... I ate plenty today.. More than I should have so far... Has this happened to anyone? and if so do you know why it happens..)

I have my 3 year appointment next month and will definetly ask.

Thanks

Kathy

So what did you eat and how long had you gone since you'd eaten?  I've had two episodes in 8 years, but both started with me going waaaayyyyy too long (like 15 hours) without eating anything.  I think that could cause a problem in normies, even.

Me too. Just like Valerie, it happened to me a few times.  Same thing, it was too many hours between eating something.

I did have this off and on the first few weeks only... and at that point I was barely choking down liquids ..... Hope it gets under control fast and you are feeling better!!

I have had this problem as well.  I asked my doctor about it and he I definitely have hypoglycemia.  My nut described it this way.  When I splurge and have anything startchy or sweet my blood sugar spikes and then it has a huge drop.  She told me that I could fast for several days and my blood sugar would remain steady. I would be interested in hearing other perspectives.

The fasting for several days...and it remaining steady is not always true. A person that eats healthy foods, no starches or sugars then goes without eating for awhile can have an episode of hypoglycemia. Sometimes hypoglycemia is a sign of a pre-diabetic.

You are probably having labs for your 3 year. Make sure they do an HbA1c. It gives an average blood sugar for the past 3 months. It won't show intermittent episodes but it will show if you are averaging very low blood sugar readings. It might be valuable to figure out what is causing the lows. Lack of eating or a sugar crash.

Do the episodes happen around the same time of the day?
