How fast does low protein effect you?
I'm in the midst of having a large number of labs processed. I haven't seen the results report yet but I'm getting some feedback from the doc's as some of the labs come in. So far the only thing off is my iodine -- it's low. From talking to the assistant, I think that my protein labs are back and that they were in the normal range. So far, everything is coming back in the normal range except the iodine... but I don't feel good. :( I'm pretty positive that I haven't been getting in enough protein lately (I haven't been tracking it either). My question is, does anyone out there start feeling bad when you aren't eating enough protein even when your overall protein levels are still good?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Protein markers would be protein serum near 7, albumin in the 4s and prealbumin at the top of the range near 34 or so. Get a copy of your labs as soon as you can. If you're sluggish, also get your B12 and iron markers. Let us know what they say.

Agree with fullhousemom. My body needs much more than 64 oz to keep myself feeling good. If I fall much below 90 oz daily, I can feel sluggish, dizzy, and just pain yucky.
My remedy is 2 good days of 120+ oz of full liquids, mostly water, no caffeine, and I'm good to go.
Ask Major Mom to look at your labs when you get everything back. She's like the "Vitamin & Lab Guru" with lots of knowledge to share.

Protein builds muscle. Carbs give energy. If you are too low carb, you might not have much energy. If the ratio of protein to carbs is way off, you could feel sluggish, especially if those carbs are simple carbs. If you eat too many carbs and not enough protein, then you may end up with loose stools, which can lead to dehydration.
So I don't necessarily believe that low protein affects how you feel as much as everything you eat instead of the protein. I also think this holds true for normies too. Its all about maintaining a good balance of protein/carbs/fats and staying hydrated.
