Considering having my DS resleeved. Has anyone else?

I had BPD/DS in 2000, went from 330 to 190. I am considering having it resleeved and keeping the DS. Has anyone done this? More complications than the original DS? My surgeon says my pouch is huge and pouches were left bigger back in 2000, but there is plenty of room for resleeve. Have you done this? Please help educate me. Thanks, Tommy.

You need to have a surgeon's opinion on fresh evaluative labs and films, regarding re-sleeve, which is certainly possible, and  re structuring of DS if it was too generous in the Common Channel. and if it is functioning correctly. Need to get a surgeon who is adequate to the task...

It has been done, though I can't speak from personal experience. Just make sure you have an experienced DS surgeon, as a resleeve is not as simple as a primary sleeve, and discuss the potential risks and benefits with your surgeon to make an informed decision.

I have a very experienced DS surgeon, he's the Doc who did original DS. We began paperwork for insurance company, we are doing it. What I am looking for are people that had DS back in 2000 or so, when pouches were left bigger, and have been resleeved since. Comparison on healing etc.. Being that my DS was already done and no intestine will be touched, what can I expect as far as recovery. Thanks

Revision on 06/21/13

I am a revision, but had several problems, a fistula was repaired and a hiatal hernia, cc shortened and stomach was plicated, not re-sleeved. There is a difference. Dr Rabkin said he would decide when he got in there and he did not like what he found, so he fixed everything ! My revision was open, and I knew what to expect, so it was about the same as the original surgery. I think we all vary and it depends on if your doc finds other problems while in there.
