Hey all! What brand and how much prenatal vitamin should I be taking?  My bottle says twice a day.  Should I stick with the recomended dosage or take more?  What is the best prenatal vite for a DS'er? Thanks everyone.  Doing great by the way, just about 6 weeks along.  First OB appt on Jan 14, Ill post ultrasound pics! :)  Just very tired a lot, moody, bloated and gassy.

Not sure if you saw, but I replied on your other post. I never found a specific brand that was better for us. Vitalady told me that our separate vitamins were the most important and prenates really do nothing special for us. So, just for good measure, I replaced my 2 daily multis with 2 prenates and continued on my normal DS vites, but added her folic acid (mega dose) and different types of iron. You'll then want to get your labs every 2-3 months and adjust accordingly. You may even want to get your labs done now and email your results to Michelle (Vitalady) and get her advice. Again, baby takes from our stores, not our daily dosages.

I remember you from some past posts. Make sure you get your labs done and address any deficiencies asap. The best thing you can do for your baby, and yourself, is to be healthy. Good luck!

I'm 6 weeks pregnant (!!)  I actually saw a maternal fetal medicine OBGYN specialist yesterday to discuss vitamin needs.  I was particularly worried about Vit A.  He basically told me that so long as my serum A level was in the normal range, I had nothing to worry about.  I had my A drawn on 11/22 and it was 34, not great, but okay.  That was taking two 25,000 pills/day (vitalady).  When I found out I was pregnant on 12/2, I dropped it to one 25k pill.  I had my A redrawn on 12/9 and it had dropped to 23.  Based on that, he actually recommended that I go back to two pills/day.  We also discussed the high levels of D & folic acid I'm taking and again, he wasn't concerned.

I also think that at the levels that we take, the amount in prenatals aren't going to significantly impact our levels and that we should go by the blood draw values.  BTW, I'm also very tired and constipated!  Congratulations to you angry
