Red Alert

You've got some great suggestions here.  I worry about this vomiting you're experiencing though.  Have you been checked for a stricture?  Eating is supposed to be a challenge to get more than a few bites at a time for a while, but vomiting is not normal.

I also kept a jar of nuts and made my own trail mix to dip into constantly during the day.

Valerie care to share your trail mix recipe? I've never made my own but I'm always looking for low carb DS friendly snacks to have around.

I just started mixing nuts that I liked, and added a sprinkling of semi-sweet mini chocolate chips and maybe some dried fruit.  It had some carbs, but you have control over how much and it  was packed with protein and easy to nibble on constantly through the day.  The base started with peanuts and sunflower seeds (because they are cheap). I would next look to see what might be on sale, and add walnuts, cashews, etc.  I got so many people hooked on my trail mix at work that they started funding my supply so I'd keep my giant gallon-jug full for everyone.

I've been working pretty much the same schedule. It really is hard to eat but pack protein powder and make yourself take the time to fix a quick shake. Pack jerky, string cheese, quest bars, etc. This is what is getting me by. I also put my vitamins on my desk in front of me so I see they need to be taken. If I put them in a drawer I forget them. Every time I look at my water bottle I take a drink.

I swapped out my purse for a backpack (and my state also charges for bags at any store so the back pack is convenient).  I have loaded 5 days of vits into that backpack.  I also have a container of protein powder and a gallon of water (which I refill in the house with free filtered water) in my car.

I do a double shake in the morning for 60 gms.  I drive an 1.5 hours to work and sip that all the way.

Another single serving shake on the drive home - mixed right in my car.  I keep a gallon of water in my car for emergencies.  If I get stuck in traffic, I will mix another shake.

If you need ready made stuff - try costco premium protein shakes.  Put a case in your car.  They have 30 gms of protein each.  Grab one every time you get in your car - that should give you 120 grams for the day.  Carry your vits in your back pack and you are golden.

And I agree that your vomiting is not right.  And you constantly bringing up acid like that will ruin your teeth and cause long term damage if it is cronic.  I would get that looked at.

Set alarms on your smart phone to remind you to eat and drink. Set it on vibrate and keep it at your side. One of the next life and death situations you face just might be your own if you don't start taking care of yourself.  You can't take good care of others if you don't take good care of yourself in order to remain mentally sharp and physically strong. Priorities, priorities!

I toss a couple of string cheese sticks, a bag of roasted almonds, a protein bar, and maybe a carton of yogurt in my handbag before I head out for the day.  Pack some portable go-to foods and keep bags in your car trunk, desk, wherever you are.

I feel like I could have written this post.  I am also four months out, just got my labs drawn, and they aren't great.  I meet with my surgery team on Wednesday, but i am able to view the labs myself because I work in the hospital I had surgery at.  I make life and death decisions daily and I am having a hard time putting my own needs first.  Thanks for posting.  I appreciate your bravery and all of the responses.

Sargento string cheese. 8grams.  Starkist premade tuna in the foil zip pouch 14 grams, add an egg shoots to a whopping 22grams for that it bitty serving of tuna.  Cans of chili, idk exactly how much. Oscar Myers ham/cheddar lunchable 14 grams. Sunkist orange has a 2.5 oz shot of protein 25 grams of protein . now in my mind if something doesn't get me 8 grams of protein per serving its not worth my time, money or effort. I haven't started eating fully yet but I have been reading a lot of labels. Also pork skins have something like 14 grams plus fat we need to stay regular. Hard boiled egg 8grams. Cup of soups depending on which one 10-14 grams of protein.
