Help please on my labs
I am going to assume this is for post DS surgery only, and you don' t have any other metabolic issues.....
unless you get them free or in a panel, you don't need a lipid profile, PT, CRP, HgbA1C, thyroid panel, UA,
I am not sure what you mean by PTH (intact) and without Ca, PTH (intact) is correct by you do need Ca to be tested
find out what is in the CMP as different labs give you different chemistries, make sure it tests for Alk phos. Zn is imp. as we have fat malabsorption. Cu for iron. I would also like to have BSAP (bone specific alk phos), and a 24 hr urine for metabolic stone risk-very imp for DSers.
you really should get a Vit K, keep looking, it is important, you are probably having a hard time as it is relatively new assay, about a decade and very specialized. now the PT/PTT has been around for decades!!! this is part of the problem. There is a lot of wrong information about PT/PTT-this is not needed for DSers. PT is insensitive to Vit K deficiency, it can predict an imminent bleeding tendency but it is not useful for the diagnosis of subclinical deficiencies. Should also have OC (osteocalcin, which is also Vit K dependent-this will measure bone mineralization and Ca hemostasis.
hope that helps....stinks about the insurance....hopefully you will get some relief soon....good luck
The PTH doe snot check Ca but another one of the tests do. The CMP does not check Zinc but it does alk phos. I will get the zinc done at the other lab place I found. Iron is included in one of those tests. I will get my vit K done as well at the other lab place. I will not do the PTT.
Thank you for the information!
Thanks for the info!
I found all the tests I need between two different companies to cover all of it. I think my surgeon wants all the extras because it is my first set of labs. Hopefully they will not want all that the next time.
Jashley these are the two companies I am using.

The second one has the vitamin K, E and transferrin.
