HELLO ALL!!!!!

SOOO amazing news!  I was approved for birthright and will be going to Israel in January for 10 days.  WHEE!  As some of you might know I am also training right now for a Bodybuilding competition.  BUT I am a DSer FIRST.  I'm a little worried about eating overseas especially when I'm not familiar with the food.

There are a TON of creative people on here so I wanted to get a few ideas about what to bring with me and see what you guys think!

So far I'm planning on bringing:

Tuna Packets

LOTS of protein powder

Beef Jerkey and Almonds

(I'm also bringing my resistance bands because they will not let me go to the gym- I have to stay with the group the whole time)

What else do you think will travel well?

THANK YOU!!!!!!!

A few sachets of Crystal Lite and a neck pillow so you can sleep on the plane. Plus vitamins of course

BRILLIANT!!!! Do you think I should put vitamins in my checked bag to avoid carrying them on?

I'd put some in both just in case one of them goes missing.

Oh and coconut cream if it fits with your plan. I get constipated if I don't get enough fat and that can be a struggle when on holiday.

What is "approved for birthright"?

I would take some Quest bars, in case you get a sweet tooth. On trips, I always take extra calcium citrate, in case I eat something that makes things loose, extra calcium does the trick. Likewise, I'll take some docusate sodium in case I can't get enough fat and end up constipated. I usually have those in an extra baggie with my vite cases. These situations might not be an issue for you, but for me, it's a certain balance to keep things regular. Travel always makes me go off my normal schedule and it's hard to count on what my bathroom schedule will be.

good call!!!! THANK YOU!

"approved" because it is a free trip where those who are born jewish have to go through an interview process in order to go.  Both my brother and I were approved and we are both going together. How awesome is that!

I've been to Israel and you won't have any problems unless you are camping in the desert or something like that.  You will find American products are easily available there and lots of good food.  Be sure to try the dates.  Fresh dates are wonderful.  Israel is an easy place to travel.

Congratulations on your trip!  Where all are you going?  If you have a chance to go to Eliat, don't miss it.
