SOS: 3 Years Post Op and Gaining!!!!

Hi All,

It is has been a long while since I posted.  My weight loss plateau was at 175 lbs.  I maintained this weight for almost 1.5 years.  My surgeon said I'd most likely lose down to 170 lbs, so I was relatively happy at this weight.  All of a sudden, I've started gaining!!!  I have gained approximately 15 lbs since June of this year.  Detailed advice on how to stop the gain and reverse this so I'm back down to 170-175 is much appreciated.

Thank you!

Kacie70

Take deep breaths.  Start tracking EVERYTHING you are putting into your mouth.  This needs to be done honestly to see where you might be going wrong.  I would suggest posting into the bites, vites and exercites on here to stay accountable.

INCREASE protein, decrease unnecessary carbs.

I am also 3 years out and it is at this point that old habits want to creep back in.  Don't let them.  If you can give an example of exactly what a typical day of eating might be fore you I would be more than happy to give a little feedback of things to tweak, change or increase.

This too shall pass!  We are all here to help each other!

Hi,

I apologize for taking so long to respond. I traveled a great deal for work during the last quarter of 2013. So, I'm just getting back to 'me'. I'll post my daily intake on the "bites" section of this site. First, I'm going to try to cut out carbs and raise my protein. Do you have a recommendation for good protein powder? I've been drinking the 0 carb GNC powder, but I'm almost where I cannot tolerate the taste any longer. I'm due to have my yearly labs done in the next few weeks and will post them when I get the results.

Thanks again for responding and for your support!

Best advice, I'm seven years out...up the protein and up the water intake and WALK!!! It's worked for me. I started gaining after year 3 and managed to take off 10 lbs but using my tool.

GOOD LUCK!

Thank you! Any recommendations on a good tasting protein powder? I've been drinking the GNC NO CARB Brand, but I'm almost to the point of not being able to tolerate the taste.

Thanks again!

What HammyGirl said! It sounds like you and I are mirroring each other. I lost down to 168 and would pop back and forth between that and 172 for about a year. About 6 months ago I noticed my clothes were getting tighter so I jumped on the scale and was shocked to see 189! I have been tracking everything on myfitnesspal.com and it's amazing to see that I can't get away with any more than 50 carbs a day. I lost to 182, stalled and creeped back to 185. I'm now back to DS Basics mode and keeping my carbs under 20 grams and increasing my exercise. KEEP TRACK OF EVERYTHING!! Post to Bites and Vites. Major Mom has great advice! I feel your pain.

Thank you! I apologize for taking so long to respond. I've been traveling lots for work, so just now back to 'me'. I'm going to do what you suggested. Cutting carbs, especially the processed ones.

Any recommendation for a good tasting protein powder? I've been drinking the GNC NO CARB Brand, but I can no longer tolerate the taste.

thanks again!

I like Now Brand unflavored whey isolate. It's so versatile from protein coffee, to smoothies and such. Lately I'm on a kick where I take 7 oz low carb almond milk (unsweetened vanilla almond breeze) & a touch of cream or half and half, 1/4 tb of unsweetened cocoa powder, half tb of sweetener of choice (I like xylitol) and one scoop of protein (2 scoops is too thick and you can taste the protein). I shake that up in a blender bottle and it's just like chocolate milk! I've honestly been craving them!

Yep, Me too! I'm up 20 pounds from were I was happy. (and where my new clothes fit!) I am slowly going down as I up my exercise and reduce my carbohydrate intake.
