Question for the Vets about labs.

I am still struggling financially with no insurance. I can pay for my labs possibly one at a time. Which lab would you say is the most important to do first?

Hi. What results are you looking for? Do you have symptoms you are concerned about?

No. I do not have any symptoms yet but DSers need their labs at six months out in order to stay on top of their levels. Hopefully everything is good.

Thank you. This is a start for me then. I will just have to do one to two at a time. =)

Google self order discount labs.  There are options now where you can order at a discount price which may help you some.

Irishnurse look at this site for starters.  Cost for vitamin deficiencies are also listed with include vitamin A and Vitamin D.  These prices look excellent cost wise.

Thank you very much for this site.  I don't have health insurance either, and was starting to make a bare bones list of labs to do.

The anemia package has calcium, 3 iron test, and some others that are lower on my list - all for 100.00 and there is a lab within 30 minute drive from me.  Great idea!  It would cost me 100.00 just to go to the doctor, who would order these tests, and then I would have to pay for those labs in addition.

Thanks again.

I just priced what I need as well and for almost all of my labs it is like 300.00 that is way cheaper than what the doc quoted me. THANKS!!!!

Also check out Accesa.  I used them for labs and the costs were significantly less.  http://www.accesalabs.com

Basically, they email you orders and then you go to any LabCorp to have the bloodwork done.

Lap-Band removed after 7 years and converted to Sleeve Gastrectomy on July 7, 2008 by Dr. Roslin.  I've had three happy healthy Lap-Band babies.... and one VSG baby.  5 years out from revision to VSG.  Gained 55 pounds in past 5 months, now considering DS. :(
