Liver Problems years post operation

Good Evening

I have had incredible shoulder pain since 2009.  I had my DS in 2006.  I did have my gallbladder removed in 2009.   The doctor thought my shoulder pain came from the gallbladder and also a torn rotator cuff - gallbladder was removed and rotator cuff repaired.

I have heard that there are possiblities of referred pain due to liver problems and I remember reading at one point that DS patients can develop fatty liver disease.

Has anyone experienced this?

Actually, the DS and the weight loss it generates fixes the fatty liver that many MO people have pre-op, rather than causing it. And while some people develop elevated liver enzymes during the rapid weight loss phase, you are obviously well beyond that.

If you are worried about your liver, discuss this with your pcp. Tests can be done if needed. But as to why you are worried specifically about your liver at this point, your post doesn't really explain.

Maybe you are concerned about your liver because of a high fat diet?

Don't worry about what you don't absorb.  We poop out the fat.  Almost all of us have low cholesterol because we don't absorb fat.  That's what makes the DS work.
