Can't Eat... Soooo Frustrated

Sounds like a stricture.  A common (well, not common, but not unheard of) complication with the sleeve portion of your surgery.  Absolutely treatable with endoscopy.  If anything, having this resolved, will help your weight loss, not impinge it.  Not eating enough can mean less weight loss, rather than more.

Also, it can absolutely get worst and restrict your ability to get in fluids.

Lap-Band June 14, 2001. Dr. Rumbaut, Monterrey, Mexico.
Lap-Band removed after 7 years and converted to Sleeve Gastrectomy on July 7, 2008 by Dr. Roslin.  I've had three happy healthy Lap-Band babies.... and one VSG baby.  5 years out from revision to VSG.  Gained 55 pounds in past 5 months, now considering DS. :(

If you do not listen to your surgeon AND the vets that you need this looked at to verify there is not something wrong like a blockage, then why BOTHER asking?

And how is life being extremely hectic gonna work if YOU do not have this fixed??? Maybe landing in the hospital due to dehydration will get your attention?

As to what I was eating at 2 months out...anything NOT nailed down.

I think I'm being misunderstood.  I am NOT saying I'm not listening or heeding the advice.  I was more questioning if it was something I was doing wrong so, I wanted to ask the vets.  I am taking my health seriously, hence the doctor's visit and the solicitation of advice/guidance.

I'm not far behind you at this point... 5 weeks and working full time while going to school part time. While I should be getting more protein in and I'm getting better at it I have not been sick once. A few things sit heavily, but that is the worst of it.  I can't imagine your slowing down will make that much of a difference. Even If I find I eat a little too fast it just feels heavy and kind of hurts in my chest but never causes me to be sick.

I'm 2 years out, and remember very well having the same eating problems you have , excluding actually "tossing my cookies". Very small amounts of solid food would irritate my stomach, my mouth would water in a pre throwing up phase. I called it the spits, if I spit I didn't throw up. I tried all kinds of food, relying on shakes and diluted yogurt for nutrition. Now at 2 years, I still have pain with dense rough solids like hamburger. I was scoped a week ago, and barium swallow test. They were prepared to remove strictures, and widen any overly narrow places. I didn't have any of these. They found a hiatal hernia. I have always had GERD. My esophagus was clear of Barrets, Take Prilosec  twice a day and I am prone to broncospasms since  the D.S. These started the day of D.S. surgery trying to swallow water. I must be super sensitive about eating and swallowing. I have not heard of anyone else having so much trouble eating, when the Dr's - internist and bariatric surgeon can't find anything wrong. I make sure I stop eating at the first feelings of food in my stomach, and take as few sips as possible of water or none when eat. Cold drinks, ice cream, ice water, thin protein fruit drinks or warm hot chocolate, warm protein broth are pain less. I sip them throughout the day, having under 8 oz at a time. I carry a cooler in my car, a shake or protein fruit drink everywhere all day, pack yogurt, and other snacks  in a big purse always. We are still searching for the cause of my stomach pain. Relax and drink lots of protein while you and your medical team search for the causes of your issues. I had 3 dbl protein shakes a day of Dymatize Elite, and as many protein fruit drink packet mixes as I could drink all day. They felt the best. I aimed for over 100g-150g protein a day and  over 64 oz fluid, some was plain water. Another helpful Dr to see is an allergist. Mine determined I was not allergic to foods, not lactose intolerant, but had high reactions to eggs, tuna fish, all sea food, some nuts- can't have mixed nuts with hazelnuts and pecans,  the entire can is off limits for me. All of these were in my daily diet. I was having egg protein shakes- nutritionist suggested. I have been working on my issues for 2 years, had my gallbladder out post D.S., headed for a hiatal hernia surgery after my plastic surgery next month. I'm super busy, fit in the Dr apts, and surgeries as best as I can. You can too. Keep up your vitamins, protein, hydration, and lab tests - no exceptions. If you don't you will end up in the hospital for sure, taking more time away from your life. One last thing, oral iron chewies were hard on my stomach, mixed with GERD, and sleeping aspirations, the iron/acid was entering my lungs, burning my mouth and stomach. Iron infusions helped so i could eliminate all forms of  oral iron. It took a year and 1/2 before I found a solution to this issue. You will be the best advocate for improving your health. Don't wait for the Dr's to hold your hand, and guide you to good health. Read all the bariatric boards have to offer. D.S'ers have experience and  the best advice. I read their posts every day, have been for 2 1/2 years. Best place to find all your D.S. health solutions is here. Hope you feel better soon.  P.M me with any questions, here to help.      ;-)
