Gall bladder removal..For D S ? Big mistake
When you have your Gall Bladder removed it is common to get acidy yellow bile diarrhea. I had mine removed 20 years ago. I have had that diarrhea on and off since if I do not take a PPI. Take a PPI and increase your calcium and iron. It will get better with time. Your body is adjusting to making to much bile. It has no where to go but into your tummy. IT will slow down over time. This is common with anyone that has a gall bladder removed with or without the DS. With the DS it just makes it a little worse because you already get the diarrhea when you first have the surgery for the first month. Do not worry it will get better. =)
PPI (Proton-pump inhibitors) are a class of drugs to reduce acid in the stomach. Even 2 1/2 years out, I still take one daily. Some take more.
Some work better than others, depending on the individual. Many use prilosec, I have to use prevacid or protonix (all three are available OTC).
Using Tums is NOT recommended due to being made of sugar and calcium carbonate.

So sorry to hear about doc S., so sad! Was going to check him out again for my
revision from the sleeve to the ds. I don't want to go back to my surgeon that has performed 6000 surgeries!!! Do you recommend anyone up in denton or close to that area? Thanks, lgma
I do not remember Dr. Stewarts assistants name...Ayoola or something like that. I know he assisted in many surgeries with Stewart. A couple of people on here have said he is well trained. They are scheduled for surgery with him. He assisted in my surgery but I really have no idea how good he is only that he was trained by one of the great DS Vets.
Hi Gary,
I would be looking at what you're eating. It could have absolutely nothing to do with carbs, fat or your gallbladder. There is an adjustment period, indeed, but what you're experiencing could be due to some common intolerance with post ops.
Dairy - some react to all dairy, while others are affected by just straight milk (like me) and anything made with uncooked milk.
Also note that Whey is a dairy by-product, so if whey is your main protein source with protein drinks, try switching to an egg white based drink (I like JayRobb). If you're adding milk to your shakes, try switching to water or almond milk or even heavy cream.
Try eliminating all dairy (or just the straight milk) for a couple days and see if you notice a change. If you do, then add things back one at a time, looking to see if anything changes from that, and so on.
Another thing to point out is the need for pro-biotics, especially if you've been taking a round of antibiotics. You need to repopulate the flora in your intestines with good bacteria. Some take probiotics in pill form, while others (like me) see wonders with just a daily dose or two of yogurt.
There's a lot of trial and error, but that would be my best suggestions for you.

I had already had a gallbladder attack or two by the time I got to my DS.
My attacks happened while I was in college, but removal of GB didn't happen until I was switched. It never made any noise at all once I got past the initial ones.
I think the issue was I had one massive stone in there that wasn't going to pass, no matter what. I still can't figure out why I wasn't in constant pain from that.
