Bloated

Also, depending on the protein shake, you may be having a reaction.  After surgery, I suddenly became intolerant of artificial sweeteners, and they would cause tremendous bloating.  See what happens with an unflavored whey or egg protein, and see if that makes a difference.  If it tastes too bad, add a teaspoon of honey to help the flavor.

Start noticing what your body says yummy yummy to, and what your body says no way.  The other common intolerances post surgery are lactose and soy products.  Good luck!

Soy intolerance?!? Oh no! So like soy milk doesn't sit well? I've only tried it at Starbucks (decaf soy latte) since surgery. And to think about it, I was super full all day, almost uncomfortable. I didn't even think about that being the culprit.

Maybe i'm having a dairy and soy issue because I tried regular milk the first day and soy the 2nd and felt bloated both times.

You can try unsweetened almond milk too. Also,it might be the lactose in your protein powder. You could try an egg white product like jay Robb .

Gl
Also try whole whipping cream or half and half. No lactose and more fat and less carbs makes a great protein shake. I use half whipping cream and half water and it is not so thick.

Id say its milk... Just mix with water. If your still bloated then its the powder also. at that point you might want to buy some samples of different powders to find out what brand works for you. It took me about 5 month to tolorate milk,

I figured the resolution would be to try water instead again because I did not have this problem during the 2 week liquid only protein diet. I verified it with the dietician today. Tomorrow I'll mix with jus****er and I'm sure I'll do fine.

It takes a lot of work to figure out what doesn't work for you.  You have to be careful to just test one thing at a time.  I'm not only lactose intolerant but I can't do whey also.  Soy is ok for me.  By the way, Lactaid also makes a cottage cheese.

I've got my money on the milk causing the bloating.  Try mixing your morning shake with either water or almond milk, instead.  I can handle most dairy with no problem, but a glass of milk or something made with plain milk uncooked (like instant pudding) sends me to bloat city, then gas.
