Getting Nervous

Making a long story short, I was originally supposed to have my DS completed on 5/30.  When surgeon found my gall bladder lodged in my liver and full of gall stones he did not continue to research some shadows that appeared in my liver and was not sure if they were gall stones.  After and MRI they were not gall stones so 3 months later I a cleared for completion of the DS.

I am scheduled next Thursday, 8/22 and I am starting to get nervous.  I am not sure what I am more nervous about, having another medical procedure or the fact that this time it is going to happen and all the changes in dieting.  I want to do this but I am nervous about the dark side and of course another procedure, pain, foley, long hospital stay and those dang nurses monitoring my pee all the time when I am not producing enough.

some anxiety is absolutely normal as you are about to have a major surgery.  There will be some difficult times in hospital and in the immediate recovery period.  That is to be expected with a major surgery.  Just take it one day at a time, knowing it is an investment in a better life.

It's very normal to be nervous about surgery, esp after having surgery recently that didn't go as you expected. And bariatric surgery really does change your life, but in a good way.

Hang in there, you will get through this and be glad you did.
