Hi there, I had a bpd/ds 7 1/2 years ago, maintained loss of 130 lbs and sat at 174 lbs (after gaining 5-10 lbs from my lowest)! A year and a half ago I started gaining weight after joining ww to try to get down lower! I know, it didn't work pre-surgery, so why would I think now? I've always eaten basically as a "normal" person since a couple years out, but its catching up on me and I've gained!! I'm now rocking the scales at almost 200 pounds, I consider that a 30 pound gain which is almost unheard of and depressing, especially since I have gotten approved for a tummy tuck (wait time 6 months to a year) so now I'm freaking out cause I really need to get rid of these extra pounds! It's depressing, I've tried incorporating exercise regularly, and have this week tried eliminating carbs, except the carbs in veggies and fruit, I really need advise/support from people who 'get it'! My doc quit doing the surgery right After he did mine, and no doctors here have a sniff about this surgery!! Thanks so much in advance for any info, tips, suggestions you can give! Especially if its happened to anyone out there!

Hi there!  I know of a couple of folks that got their regain back under control by going under 50 grams of carbs a day. You might have to stop fruit and any veggies that add to the carb total. It takes me a solid 2 weeks of low carbing and near fasting to get my body to start losing now. It's like white knuckle dieting again unfortunately. If you'd like to start posting on Bites and Vites and even planning things out on MyFitnessPal, it might help.

I post a daily thread where you can list your plan for the day or list what you actually did for the day. It's a way to hold yourself accountable and get pointers on your diet, vitamins or daily exercise. See ***Saturday Bites, Vites & Exercites*** for today's post.

Hi Tammy, I am from Dundurn, SK Canada, and I have lost 130lbs. I had my surgery in Saskatoon 8 years ago, and I have been fighting a battle of regain to, though only 10 -15 lbs, which is a lot when I still weight 220, going up into the 230's sucked. I know other people that have had the surgery that are from Regina, that you may be able to get support from.
My diet is pretty normal to, I can eat anything with not a lot of issues, well except bathroom ones, which to me is a small price to pay, but I have decided to smarten up and get on track, I would like to loss 20lbs and get just under 200 if possible. So if you need a support buddy I am more then willing.

Susan

Nov. 14/2005 I have reached the 10 year mark and I am very glad I had this surgery and can live a normal life.

Thanks Susan!! Yes, I do know people from here definitely, that have had the surgery!! Thanks for oIfering support! I'm excited to say after limiting my carbs for the last 3 days I've dropped 4 lbs! Maybe my body is in shock!! Lol I need to get this straightened out cause I really want this skin removal, but this weight has all been put on in my tummy and that won't work too well for me!! Thanks again, I'm gonna hit a spin class with step following! Wish me luck, done it a few times, but not without my workout buddy!

Get rid of the veggies and fruit.  Eliminate ALL carbs.
