Feeling defeated
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm five years out from surgery. I never quite made it to my goal but I lost 112 pounds. I was okay with that but then had a significant family tragedy. I went through a period of PTSD and gained back about 35 pounds. I got very serious about my weight in April and have been working very hard to get this weight back off. I have been exercising and logging all my foods. I lost 20 lbs in the first 2 months and now I can't seem to make the scale budge. I have increased my intensity at the gym, sometimes working out twice a day. I'm soo frustrated.
I'm so sorry. Sounds like your old metabolism is back. I don't know how long it takes for exercise to affect it but don't stop exercising. Metabolism may just be delayed. Keep the exercise in high gear and see if the metabolism comes along.

Besides lots of protein, cut your carbs back to 50 if you can. It's hard years after. You can do it. I had PS and then dropped a few more pounds...

If that dreaded scale does not move in another week, change your exercise up and try something different. Our bodies seem to get comfortable with what we are doing on a daily basis and needs a good swift kick once in awhile.
Again, congratulations on all you have accomplished and YOU CAN DO IT

I am so sorry about your family tragedy, and for the sufffering it caused you. I hope you are at peace now.
the best advice I can add to the excellent suggestions already provided is, don't give up! Stalls happen, and they are major bummers esp when you are working so hard and doing everything right. But if you keep up with the high protein, low carb approach, lots of water, get a good night's sleep every night, and exercise, and keep your spirits up, it will happen for you.

Hang in there! I've had lots of family tragedies, myself, being responsible for three of my family elders, including my Mom, as they prepared to make their transitions. I had been at it for 14 years, and had my DS done in the midst of it. Try to be good to yourself at this time, and find something to do that will lift your spirits. A trip to the beauty spa for some self-indulgent treatments, like facial, manicure, pedicure helps me a lot. It doesn't even have to be a fancy one. If your town has a beauty college, go there. The students are supervised and do a very good job.
My metabolism shows no signs of stopping, and I know that's of little comfort to you right now.
Allow me to suggest the "Krispy Creme" kick-start.
Get yourself a regular glazed Krispy Kreme doughnut or two, and coffee if you like, with what you usually add to it, or black if you like it that way.
Eat the Krispy Kremes, drink the coffee. The sugar and carbs will usually "shock" your metabolism and get it to kick in again.
I'm almost 4.5 years out, and I've only had to use this twice about mid-way through, but it worked for me!
With your increased gym activity, you might be building muscle, and that's causing the scale to stand still. Muscle weighs more than fat, so you could be just building muscle, and still losing fat, but it's just not showing up on the scale because the muscle building is canceling out your seeing any loss of fat via the scale.
