So as the title suggests, I'm one month away from having my DS surgery. I'm a bit nervous, but overall I'm hopeful. I wish i could fast forward to the end of the recovery though. Anywho, just thought i would introduce myself. I'm Don and I'm from grand rapids Michigan. My surgeon is Dr. Kemmeter. My original weight before starting this process (i had to do a 6 month diet) was 333. I'm 6'1 and 27 years old and the main reason I'm getting the surgery is so that when i finally do have kids, i will be able to play with them and not just sit in the yard while they play.

Also, slightly nervous about loose skin. Hopefully i will be diligent with working out, which i hear helps elasticity.

Everyone gets nervous as their surgery gets closer.  You will do great and will look back a year from now and think, where did the time go?

I'm Also about a month out - surgery is scheduled for 9/9. Like you, I'm also getting a bit nervous. We'll have to keep in touch and power thru this!

Nervous is normal!  You will experience a wide range of emotions over this next month....just keep coming here and venting, it helps immensely!  Welcome!

Congrats on your surgery date. I also live in Grand Rapids and just had surgery with Dr. Kemmeter on Monday. I'm going to refer to my current state as the dark days. Recovery brings on a bunch of mixed emotions. I didn't image it being so hard to sip enough fluids and get over all of the discomfort. I already feel a huge difference from yesterday and can drink a little more so I know it will get better with time and I will have no regrets.

Congrats on your surgery! I have a friend that said he was almost crying because he couldnt get the fluids in on the first day. Apparently it's a nice bag of emotions mixed with opiates, lol.

question regarding GHP food,

For the meals (during the 800 cal diet period), any suggestions? What ones did you like/dislike?

Thanks!

I didn't have a lot of problems with the 800 cal diet. At that point I knew not cheating was going to lead to a benefit soon. The TV dinner things are not horrible. Unless you love beans avoid the bean ones. They were not my fav. The enchilada one was ok but spicy. The pot roast, turkey chili, and oriental one were probably my favs. I got the mixed box of soup and some of the nacho cheese soup. The nacho cheese soup was the best but the chicken broth soup was the worst thing I've ever had.
