Today is 3 weeks post op for me and tomorrow, I return to work.  I am trying to develop a game plan because my work day is highly unpredictable and highly stressful.

I am hoping for some "on the go" meal ideas, especially ones where a refrigerator may not be available. For example, when you know you'll be in a meeting or training.  Also, any restaurant options that are go to's for you.

I am still on a combo of puree/soft foods and will be for the next 2 weeks.  I am sitting here blank, everything I can think of requires me to be near a refrigerator and for the next few days back at work, that won't be possible.

Any ideas?

If I may? Why not look into getting a small insulated bag, just big enough for, say, a meal and a snack? They now come in cute patterns, and they're not expensive: I got a whole bunch of insulated carriers on Overstock. That would allow you to carry, say, hummus or string cheese or egg salad with you with no worries. And it would be small enough that nobody would look at you funny. If you do feel self-conscious and don't want to go into the whole "I had weight-loss surgery" shpiel (I wouldn't), tell anyone who asks that you had dental work done and have to eat soft food.

I have a small ice chest that I put two freezer blue flat bottles on the bottom and then add in my food.  I put all my food into baggies, or containers that will fit.  Add in fork, spoon, napkins and you are good to go anywhere.  Egg salad, tuna salad, RTD protein drinks (premier is 30 g).  When you can eat real food, I bring sausage, smoked pork chops, ham or turkey rollups, or a sandwich of 2 slices of cheese, 4 oz of deli meat, and 2 more slices of cheese, with mayo, sliced in half - each half is about 25g.  Sliced cheese, hot dogs/links, nuts, jerky...

Hard boiled eggs, meat/cheese rollups, individual cottage cheese, yogurt, applesauce.  My go to grab and go.  Like others I have an insulated purse and freeze my bottle of water for the ice and drink it later as it thaws. Made some gazpacho soup to sip on early on.  Tomatoes did not bother me. Good luck on back to work,  MY bigger problem was bathroom issues at work.

They also make a lunch bag that you can freeze, so that you don't have to take up space inside for an ice pack. They are called Pack It and you can get them at Bed Bath & Beyond. If you don't want to do that, you could get some pouches of tuna, or the tuna lunch kits that have the ingredients to make tuna salad.
