Recovery Time and Traveling

I would have been fine to travel at 5.5 weeks.   I went back to work at a pretty active job at 2.5 weeks, and had to take a nap every day when I got home.   By 5.5 weeks, I was feeling pretty much myself.   I was 45 at the time of my DS.

I had mine lap.  I had a lot of complications.  No way would I have gone to Vegas at that amount of time.  Everyone is different.  Your Mileage May Vary.  I really think you need to cancel the trip.  I am nearly a year out.  I just went on a 4 hr plane ride.  Was in the bathroom a lot.  Vibration even in the car makes me go.

Everyone is different.  I would cancel while you can get your money back if you can.

I'm 2 months out and, other than still learning my body's new reaction to food as I add them back, I've felt mostly normal since about a week after surgery. I'm still trying to build back up to my pre-surgery activity level, but I'm about 75% there. Water and protein are key for energy.

I'm pretty jealous of all the ppl on here that say they could have went no problem. I'm almost 7 weeks post-op and still would not even consider the thought of traveling on a plane, let alone to Vegas. Of course my surgery was a little complicated taking 8 hours but it was done laproscopically. There is no way I could go to Vegas and do all the walking that is involved in the heat down there. I would be so dehydrated the whole time no matter how much I sipped on water. You will have to tell your friend about the surgery because you won't be able to eat more than a few bites at a time. You will need to be taking all your vitamins and protein. I watch what I eat very carefully and my body still gives me problems where I am in the bathroom for periods of time. I would hate to be on a plane when I had one of those episodes, the smell is atrocious. BUT maybe you will have as good of luck as others on here and be ok to go. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY!
